In july of 2000 we bought out first car from lowbook sales. It was a 1996 mercury sable. It was a as is sale but there was alot wrong with it but didn't not know about it till we drove it off the lot. we had the car only a month when it left me and my 3 kids stranded and car had to be towed.

We had the car for 4 days the stereo in the car burned up and would not turn off. had the car 3 years and had to put 4 batteries in it. the windows would only roll up or down when they wanted to. the interior light would not turn off. this is only a few things that was wrong with it.

then this other car we bought is a 2000 ford explorer. the cd player never did work just like the first car. The glove box light will not turn off. and they sold us the car without servicing it like they told us they did. we tried to service it but could not get the fuel filter off. we took it to one shop and they could not get it of either so we had to take it to a ford dealership.

They could not get it off either they told us that it was the wrong filter on there and that no one had ever seen anything like this. unfortunatly they ended up having to replace the fuel lines because of this. So niether one of the cars we bought from there was ever serviced. And they are not willing to help fix it either.

Junk Yards

Sadly I must say if you want to find out the quality of a vehicle the only way to be sure is to go take a stroll through the junk yards. I know it sounds crazy but a walk through a car wrecking yard can be very educational. From my personal experience in wrecking yards I've found that ford explorers, ford tempo's, ford taurus (and all the above listed's mercury counterparts), and vw rabbit don't have to be damaged at all for their owners to give up on them and take the $50 from a wrecking yard instead of an attempt to sell them. The reason is in my oppinion a combination of poor quality parts, design, and engineering. It's very unfortunate you had a bad experience with the dealership but do mind that those vehicles are notorious for problems that multiply. So find the wrecking yards and start looking, you never know what you'll find out.
