Lowe's Rebate ripoff WILKESBORO North Carolina

On 10/29/05 I purchased over $750 worth of applicances from my local Lowe's store and was given the usual 400' of cash register rebate paperwork which I duly and CAREFULLY prepared and sent off.

Four weeks later I went online to check the rebate status and found "rebate disqualified" on my listing. I called the company, explained I did everything correctly and have copies of all the papers. Mysteriously they agreed to honor the rebate - is that because I had kept all the paperwork?. However eight weeks later I'm still waiting and everytime I call they say the same thing "another 2 weeks and you should have your rebate". Rubbish.

This is just obfustication designed to encourage people to give up so the company can keep the rebate. However unlike many of your complaints about rebate programs I am NOT giving up so easily. I am suing Lowe's in my local small claims court and yes it can be done even if the company has it's head office in other state. As long as it conducts business in your home state, you can sue locally.

When enough people sue these big greedy corporate entities they will soon learn to honor their rebate programs or just simply take the rebate off the sticker price - then we'd all save a lot of time and headaches!
