It has been a while since we heard from the Macy's Homes mobile sales people.
We went to buy a new mobile home when my fiancee's Mother died. She was 98 and she put a fund in the Trust set aside for the home. She had been a teacher at Cold Springs school in Montecito, and taught at Mc Kinley elementary School on Cliff drive in Santa Barbara CA for 40 years. She and her husband went with us to choose a mobile home at first we went to Nipomo and the sales rep told us to get a survey.
Then we went to a surveyor at SBCC where D's father had taught for many years. He recommended that we use a surveyor from Ojai but after seeing the maps of the park said it was too advanced for his knowledge. D's father sought another surveyor and another they would not touch this Mobile Home Park, because it was in litigation with another survey team.
New management was elected and they brought their own survey team to the park. The survey was completed at a reasonable price as well.
The parents sold their Home on the Riviera after asking us if we wanted it, we told them to sell it and put the money into a family Trust and that we would stay in our own mobile home. We opted to stay close to the beach and so they paid for ten years at 5,000 a mo. in a teacher's retirement community in Santa Barbara. The mom passing in 2005, and dad in 2008.
One or two months before we burried him the people who finished the survey ripped out our Cypress trees to do a survey. The trees were strewn in the driveway where we park and in front of the house.
Next we get told to allow them to dry and the management team would pick them up with their gardeners.
We promptly ask Macy's Homes Sales Representative Jim Houck to help us buy the demo on his showground lot. He did we told him that we would be back the following day we were. The home had sold and was being towed off to a location on Lemonwood in Ventura by the Macy's Owners and real estate team. Our soon to be Trustee was telephoned for references of cash at hand and everything seemed like it was going to go smoothly. It began to unravel. After speaking to an attorney to name the Trustee and 90 days had passed from the death of D's father. We went back and to MAcy's and sat for hours for three days and finally we had the same house the same company to install it and the speculatives all finished for the interior. Mr. Houck visited a few times to mark the perimeters along side the surveyor and the Park's appointed managr met with him the markings were pink, green and orange spray paint was all over the building the ground and the rocks outside in the garden. Then the sales person quit his job after I wrote him a check for the blue print of a "Silvercrest design". I spent months trying to find out what I could do with the blueprint. So I called "Silvercrest" to find out they had terminated all of their engineers and hired a fresh team. The money for the survey and the money for the blueprint were ripped off. Later on we got angry and asked for our money back, and they told our manager that they were filing a restraining order on us. In the mean time the sales rep pulled up into our driveway a few more times and called us and played a Rush Lumbaugh type of radio station on the air over our telephone lines until he reached the freeway. We called to report his bizarre behavior. He was also heard in a private meeting with two other people in this Park plotting a take over and telling the other persons what they could do to legally not allow a new home to be put in this space after the exxavation of the mobile home was complete. Luckily a Sheriff Department employee had a tele scanner on and the sales rep hit a recall button on his cell we heard everything as if we were in the same room with them. Awesome they got busted. That sale rep calls here often and D just listens and is somewhat leary of what his game is. However, we found out he is big business on the catering set in Ventura County and that he is a sponsor to the Basketball Team for VHS. So I'm guessing that is where our money went. But my mother attented that school and was on the pep squad in 1949-50. And my grand parents owned a T.A. Smith Trucking business in Ventura and sponsored all of the Pop Warren baseball, and football leagues. That is no excuse to swindle people out of their homes or estate money. The riviera home went to support several cousins, nieces, and nephews college tuitions. The mobile home was purchased and paid for twenty seven years ago. How Can we get our money back?
