I was looking for a capable Wordpress Developer to develop my portfolio site, I posted on twitter and got a reply back from Mike Smith / Guerrilla Wordpress. He seemed amiable and had a decent portfolio. He came across very well in emails - attentive, answering my questions professionally etc
On 27th October I paid Guerrilla a deposit for the development of a Wordpress Website Design, also sending the design files and a front end specification. Guerrilla/Mike Smith had estimated to have a working prototype to me within 3 days.
I had no contact from Guerrilla/Mike Smith, despite sending several emails until 2 November when Guerrilla/Mike Smith again said that he expected delivery to me within a couple of days. On 7 November, after again hearing nothing from him I contacted Guerrilla/Mike Smith. He promised a link the next day (8 November). I contacted AGAIN on 10 November and then again on 12 November at which point he provided a link - it was however not working and there was nothing to see.
He had apparently 'left the maintenance mode on'. Considering Guerrilla/Mike Smith is paid to deliver websites, I would expect that they would at least check such simple things before provisioning a link. I contacted him informing him of the problem and Guerrilla/Mike Smith provided a following link the next day - once again, it was not working. This time, it threw up a programming error. Again, I would expect such things to be checked. The last contact I had was 15 November.
I still have not seen anything working. I threatened to open a dispute on 18 November and heard nothing back.
Guerrilla have taken $250 and provided nothing in return. Research shows this is not uncommon for them:
