In January of 2008, I ordered a magazine subscription from Magazines.com

A couple minutes after ordering I called their 800 number to be sure that I wouldn't be charged the auto-renewal. When placing your order there is NO option to order with out the auto-renewal.

When I called they told me that they updated my account and I would not be automatically charged for renewal once my subscription expired.

In or around August of 2008, I was charged for a renewal.
I called to cancel and ask for a refund. They told me they were cancelling and that I would be refunded in 3-5 days. I never received a refund. So I called a week later to make sure the account was cancelled, they told me that it was and that I should be receiving a refund. It never came.

Several months had passed and now December 23, I received a renewal notice by email stating that I was just charged for a renewal....again!

By this time I was livid! This charge was going through on an account that I only use for budgeted billing. The unauthorized charge that Magazines.com was charging me for would draw the account negative!

I called and told them this and they said that they couldn't do anything until after the holidays and that even though they hadn't posted the payment to my account yet, it was too late to cancel it. I asked to speak to someone in accounting and they told me that all the accounting people were off for the holidays. And that I'd have to wait 3-5 business days for a refund. I asked who would be responsible for the negative charges at my bank and they said I should've called to cancel the auto-renewal!!

I still have no answers and I'm totally frustrated. I thought I should warn others before they also victims of this unethical business practice!
