I found Maid in America through servicemagic.com. Servicemagic is a company that matches contractors, maid services, etc up with homeowners. Servicemagic claims to work on a rating system, meaning after the work is completed you can then go back and rate the service "professional" that was referred by servicemagic.

I left the following review for Maid in America:
"The laundry room was not swept or mopped behind the door, pantry not swept or mopped, kitchen garbage not
emptied, glass top tables not windexed, dining room table not dusted, master bathroom & my son's bathroom had hair & dust behind the toilet, master bed not dusted, linoleum in the family room kitchenette & family room bathroom not swept or mopped, bathtub in the family room not cleaned & home office not vaccuumed & garbage not emptied.

When I called the Maid in America office less than two hours after the maid's departure I found Ms. DeClue to be extremely unsympathetic, as she told me she could not believe this maid performed poorly because she usually had good reviews. When I gave Ms.DeClue specific examples of the things this maid failed to clean she began to make excuses, such as the pantry probably was not cleaned because the maid most likely thought it was a closet (my response was the pantry door was left wide
open), or the kitchen garbage was not emptied because the maid probably could not find it (to which my response was it is a kitchen, it obviously has a garbage can).

Maid in America provides its maids with a checklist which they are to follow. However, this maid falsified her checklist & cheked off things which were not cleaned. I invited Ms. DeClue to come to my home to see her employee's work. Ms. DeClue told me she was much too busy to come to my home on a Friday afternoon.

While Maid in America did send someone to re-clean my home the following Monday I do not feel this company is worth the hassle." Ms. declue called and berated me because I left her a negative rating and said "If you don't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all". She then sent me a harrassing email.

Apparently Maid in America complained to servicemagic because I then received an email from stating they were going to remove the negative feedback from Maid in America's feedback file. Following is the emails from service magic:

"Hello Shannon,

Thank you for your email. I am sorry that you feel this way about this rating. Please remember, there are two sides to every story. I have noted Maid in America's account, and we do keep tabs on our members. If we start
to see a negative trend on this account, we might have to revisit this rating.

Sincerely,

Darcie"

"Darcie,

The rating provided by me is the truth. So, if you are not going to post the rating then I will not utilize ServiceMagic nor any of it's service providers anymore. If this is a common practice of ServiceMagic then I feel the ratings that I and each of your other clients use to base hiring decisions will no longer accurately reflect the quality of service provided. So what good is the rating system if it is not honest?

I am not the only person to have a negative experience with Maid in America. There are at least 2 negative ratings on their profile. Now however I wonder how many other negative ratings Maid in America and your other service providers have but ServiceMagic is simply choosing not to show to the public. This is a
very underhanded and sneaky way for ServiceMagic to get business.

In your previous email you stated, "Please remember, ServiceMagic believes honest feedback is very important. We do not like to read about a negative experience." That statement makes no sense. If honest feedback is "very important" then why would you not post feedback, even if it is negaive. I will be in contact with the other maid services referred by ServiceMagic and will tell them why I will not utilize their services, as I will also make sure all of my friends and family know that ServiceMagic is not to be trusted.

-Shannon

Hello Shannon,

Thank you for your email. It sounds like the two of you are at an impass. For now I am going to decline the rating. Although I am going to make a note on Maid in America's account and ask them to work out this situation with you. Please remember, ServiceMagic believes honest feedback is very important. We do not like to read about a negative experience. Also, if we start to see a negative trend on a company, we might have to revisit this rating.

Thank you,
Darcie

"When Maid in America came out to re-clean they did not even bring a vaccum cleaner with them. We still have cobwebs... I am NOT satisfied with this service at all. Not only did Maid in America not perform up to my
expectations Ms. DeClue saw fit to berate me via the telephone and email regarding the rating I gave her company. Looking at her feedback it is plain to see I am not the only person who has had "issues" with Maid in America."

Hello Shannon,
Thank you for your rating. I was wondering if
Maid in America has come back to your house and cleaned it to your satisfaction. Could you please provide me with a brief update?

Thank you,
Darcie

So, the "professionals" refered by swervicemagic are NOT to be trusted. DO NOT trust their rating system. They supress negative ratings! So, here I am in a dirty house and Maid in America has ripped me off for $95!

Request to drop 6 year old complaint

AUTHOR: Vicky Bates-Davis - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I would like to respond to this previous client complaint.  I have been in business for over 15 years in my community.   I have several client testimonies on my website www.maidinamericaga.com that would disagree with this negative report. I am a successful member of the community and chamber of commerce for Paulding County. I also serve as a volunteer for the Paulding Wellstar system.  I did eveything possible to make the client happy, but it just was not possible.  She was rude to my technicians and could not be pleased.  I run a very professional business.  Review my website, youtube account, paulding.com and several other media sites.  I value all my customers but some people are just not able to be pleased.  I do feel that in light of the fact that this complaint is 6 years old abnd no other complaints have been filed it should be dropped from public view.  I also feel you should notify vendors when they have a complaint being filed to validate before assuming it to be so.  That is fair!  Thank you for your time.  Vicky Davis
