Marketing Sessions out of Oakbrook, IL is the biggest scam I have ever seen. Upon submitting my resume and reading about the company online i felt as if it was a good opportunity. I knew something was wrong when I showed up for my interview and there were like 15 other people sitting in the lobby. Went into the interview w Michael for like 15 min and was told I would get a call back if they were interested.

Not even an hour later I got a call for a 2nd round interview. I was informed the 2nd round interview consisted of following around an account manager so i was like whatever cool. We go out for like 8 hours barging into peoples stores annoying them asking them for their phone bills. Out of seeing maybe 70 businesses maybe 2 people showed us their phone bill.

What Marketing Sessions tries to do is switch people from AT&T to SBC because MKTG Sessions is affiliated with Cydcor and SBC. So basically they go in telling these innocent people oh yeah switch to SBC its way cheaper, but forget to disclose many hidden fees where inturn the person's bill comes out to be more than it was with AT&T.

So I took the job w them got awesome promises saying yeah in the 1st 2 weeks u make $400-$600 then u become a leader and make $700-$1000 then asst mgr and so on. Basically what they try to instill is you can become an owner in a year and make 6 figures. So i was like $600 that sounds good.

They tell you it takes to weeks to get your first check. Oh then its not 2 but 3 then not 3 then 4. I was there for 5 weeks until i got my first check. Its not worth it. You drive around all day wasting ure gas, talking to people who dont want anything to do w u, work 10, 11, 12 hrs walk miles for what?... to be paid commission.

They try to break down how you get paid and they make it seem so great. I was supposed to make $500 but got paid $150 becuase my apps got rejected supposedly, when while i made this money a leader was watching what i was doing and gave the ok. Michael holds meetingss at 7am once a week and talks about how much money he makes and other bullshit.

Its not a marketing firm you are a door 2 door salesman, it lokks like a professional environment but people are swearing in the office and s**t. There were many days when i worked 10hrs didnt switch any1 over to sbc or retain customers so i made nothing. ITS LIKE A CULT THERE.

Every morning u go u have to do pitches to each other for an hour then you play games like scategories. PEOPLE TALK DOWN TO U THERE. And what came from it all lack of sleep , no time to eat, fights w the girlfriend, worrying about money, BROKEN PROMISES, ITS SUCH A SCAM.

Then u go downtown for corporate training which is paid, YEAH NEVER SAW THAT MONEY $200. I swear people who work their have no lives you get to work at 7am and dont live till 7pm, then after working 10, 11, 12 hours they host team nights every thursday and if u dont show up they get pissed. I had my leader calling me all the time for no apparent reason.

They brainwash people there luckly i got fed up w the bullshit and left. Typical day there for an entry level was arrive at 8am leave at 6:30 pm. Alright I can go on for hours about mistreatment there the moral here is MICHAEL SESSIONS IS A CON ARTIST, MKTG SESSIONS IS A SCAM, INNOCENT PEOPLE HAVE THERE PHONE BILLS BECOME MORE EXPENSIVE DUE TO BROKEN PROMISES. Its ridiculous take a look around everyday theres always 5 people leaving and 10 getting hired.

Different strokes

AUTHOR: Former employee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 13, 2015

I'm cracking up reading everyone's comments. I worked at a Cydcor ICL (independently owned business) for over 3 years. While it is true that some managers/recruiters will lie to recruit, it is important to note that not all of them do. I have met Michael Sessions and find it hard to believe he was ever anything but open and honest.

Keep in mind that all Cydcor actually does is line up clients for the businesses and provide various levels of support. Each business is independently owned and operated.

In my time there and the five years since, I have seen multiple friends get promoted into management and eventually ownership. In fact, some of them have had great success.

In my experience, people that aren't afraid of some hard work, being honest and TRULY wanting to develop others are the ones that are successful in that business. Noone gets a handout, only performance based promotions. I still use the system of selling all the time, whether personal (buying a car or negotiating my rental rate) or professional (I do lot of fundraising for a nonprofit).

I have nothing bad to say about Cydcor as my entire experience there was a positive one. My advice is this, if you are willing to work hard, find an office where you connect with management, as they will likely work hard to develop you. If you want to make a lot of money with doing very little work....you sound like the typical American and I wish you the best of luck.

Not for Everyone?

AUTHOR: ******* - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, April 24, 2015

Hi there, while i agree with you that this Job/company is not for every one, that same premise has come to be an overly used excuse by individuals affliated with Cydcor. I respect your opinion here if it is genuine, and i hope that as you have branched out, you will run a great organization. Here is my problem with cydcor; in my humble opinion, i believe that its business model is based on deception(from top to bottom). It says alot about a company when you tend to always get blindsided with new information, the higher up you get. I can go into more detail if you wish but i gotta get back to my daily chores. With that said, I think that as much as Cydcor is not for everyone, genuine, honest, honourable and people that believe in core moral values fall into that category that this business is NOT for. Which means if a actually have those things within you, the system will not allow you to succeed Longterm. Thank you

Hahahahahaha! You clearly still work for one of these bullsh*t companies. The phrases you used are exactly, word for word, what every Cydcor clone says! As far as these companies are concerned: if you get tricked or are desperate enough to work there, get out after you have gained some sales experience and get a better job. Cydcor is a joke. There's a reason there are only like 9 consultants for the company, when its been around for like 25 years! I worked at one of these companies for almost a year. The turnover rate is something over 90%!! I saw literally hundreds of people get hired and fired or quit!

On a positive note: I gained enough experience to get out and get a real job.

The thing is nobody is wrong here... There for u cant compare on experience over 400 opportunities.Itd not the fault of cydcor only the fault or leadership and manager for not runing a effective business. If u take the law of averages an emply them to your performance u would have succeeded. if not then ur training or your own well power..

speaking only truth based on my own experiences as you do too.. its just the people u work for... Have fun and make money.... quality time with quality people.. if u done this u would have been successful.. try again and apply the true core structures

Typical Cydcor Office

AUTHOR: vmj9t2 - ()

POSTED: Saturday, January 11, 2014

I was in the "business" for over a year and everything you are saying sounds about right. In that year I worked for 2 different offices, and on 3 different campaigns. The first office  went out of business and the second office Oryx Inc, which is still being run by Micheal Cosper out of St. Louis Missouri. Having spent enough time in the business and seeing good people waste too much of their time on a career that goes no where, I firmly believe that everyday  that companies like Oryx stay open is just another day they are stealing from good people. A warning to people that are considering taking a job at any Cydcor office, don't be fooled by all prescripted nonsense they tell or train their account managers say. Below is a list of other Cydcor offices, locations and owners. I will up date and give you a fuller list once I have the time to sit down with the monthly Leaders magazine.

Oryx Inc in St.louis Mo- Micheal Cosper

ABC Inc (Atlanta Business Consultants) in St.louis MO - Angel Jacome

DMC Atlanta in Atlanta, GA - Adam Dorfman

Watermark Business Solutions in Kansas City, MO - Michell Stephani

S&A Communications in Kansas City MO -Ingrid Bodelson

Empire Marketing in Chicago IL - Mark Chern

Im sorry you feel the way you do...

AUTHOR: Shawn1st - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, July 31, 2013

I worked for Marketing Sessions from July 2007 - September 2008. I never did sales before but I knew sales was for me. When I started @ marketing sessions I drove home to buy a car and drove it back so I could do this job. It took me about a month to get a grasp of the whole B2B concept... I didnt make money that first month but I wasnt going to b***h about it I was going to figure s**t out.. and from my perspective most people who post saying its a  scam only worked here for maybe a month at best. So you really never gave yourself a chance to make money. Thats just my opinion. Long story short I built a team, we were successful. I even made $1700 in one week after taxes it was like 1100, f*king c*k sucking government!! haha jk some of you guys crack me up with your hate.. Sessions tought me the fundamentals of sales, the 4's 5's and 8's and if you worked the system the system would work for you. Sessions even gave me salary instead of commision at one point in time. It lasted for a couple months untill he noticed I was doing the bare minimum and taking advantage of his nice jesture. So he took it away. Back to commision, what a f*king d**k right? He even bought me suits, I've never had a boss buy me suits!! I did win a competition based on performance... and i still got the suits! ...  He never taught me to lie or steal from customers. He taught me how to talk to customers. How to interview and train newbies, that s**t wasnt easy thats for sure. It isnt for everyone. You had to have a pretty open schedule, but it was mon-fridays, no weekends!   Anyways, all im saying is, its what you make of it. If you think you have a good attitude and you dont let things get to you, as well as have a car thats good on gas you can make money. ITS PERFORMANCE BASED!!! ITS ALL BASED ON YOUR PERFORMANCE. Its not a scam, I got paid. I also had rejections where customers canceled. Everyones story is different, but sessions isnt a scam. Bull makes money cuz bull knows how to produce. Oh yea, he fired me too.  What a c*k sucker right? Nah im greatful to have met someone who could teach me so much.    Would I do it again?  This job gave me the tools to get a better paying job hahaha. But i might come back for the chicks, tonsss of hotties.

CYDCOR - SCAM

AUTHOR: Chris - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 01, 2010

I am writing in regards to the posts created concerning Cydcor and all their network offices throughout North America. After reading the posts from former employees, current employees and former interviewers I have to say everyone makes great points. Is the job for everyone, No. I personally went through the ranks and made the jump to "management" and want to inform any current employee or future employee of what exactly Cydcor is all about and how they use young people.

I'm not going to go into the interviewing practices and the companies atmosphere because everything everyone has posted is factual. Cydcor and its hundreds of branches is a pure PYRAMID scam - its simple as that. If that works for an individual, best of luck but to most young kids out of school they don't know any better. They are looking to jump start a career which COULD happen with an office but as stated maybe 1% make it to so called "management" and "ownership."

So you have the executives who have been there from the beginning. They strike deals with these companies to represent them - AT&T, QUILL, QWEST Etc.. their pitch - let us sell your services and you only pay us when we sell. At that point they assign these companies to the markets in which they need further rmarket share. That's where the sales force - feet on the street, come in - One sells 3 business lines to JUICE Inc. AT&T contractually agrees to pay CYDCOR ( not the branch office ) $50.00 for each line sold. You the sales person makes $33.00 a line, the office makes $10 a line and where does the rest go? You got it...$7.00 or whatever their commission goes to Cydcor. At that point they then commission $3.00 to the VP of his or her team and so on. Everyone gets a piece of the pie. That's how they make the money they do - figure Cydcor has 5,000 reps on the street in N America - 5,000 lines sold a day x $3.00 to Cydcor 7.00 to VP of his team 10 to the manager 33.00 to you the rep = NOT BAD! That's how pyrmaid scams work.

FACTS
- Avg age of reps 23-26
- They do not withhold taxes
- 100% commission
- No employee health care - on your own - that may change now with branches of 50 or more with national health care law
- No dental - on your own
- No retirement plan options - on your own
- No expense reimbursement - on your own
- Hours - Mon-Fri 7 AM - 6 PM some offices work Sat depending upon client
- Have to wait 2 weeks for 1st pay check
- Have to wear a suit
- Its Business to Business COLD CALLING
- Expect 1-2 stops to close a sale
- The markets and territories are saturated
- People stand in a circle and clap - high fiving on sales - ring a bell/gong - LAME!
- If you dont give in to the culture, become involved in company outings, question management on practices - you will be forced out
- Calling in sick raises red flags
- Being late you may be scolded
- Lots of partying - hooking up with employees - like any company but Cydcor and branches dont care as long as you sell
- Build your team off of management interviews - sell them on day interview - get them starting - retain them to build your team
- Typically need 5-7 team member who then need 3-4 of their own members - maintain team sales - promote you to assistant manager
- Manager then calculates team commissions and sets up a fund for you to start your own branch
- Promoted to management enough money is made to open office - typically $15,000
- Give you 3 city options to move with your 5 team members - to question them on not wanting to move will be fround upon - they will say your not dedicated or some BS
- Convince 5 team members to move with you to start your office and assign you a client in that city
- No expenses paid - moving, gas etc... ON YOUR OWN
- Then you start a company, legally under your name and tax number and pay the fees and taxes as any normal small business
- BUT your manager, his her manager and so on to the top all make a dime off your office sales. BUT you need to pay the taxes of course not Cydcor!!
- They suck you in with good times, meeting BS celebrities, pretend to give back to the community to try and make them look legit

Like people have stated they sell the dream and I know not 1 person who I started with there - we all made it to management - that are still with Cydcor. As you get older you realize what your involved with and you move on - as hard as you had worked, time you dedicated, debt you brought forth - the executives don't care - they say - NEXT! As long as the doors keep moving and sales come in the door through young people they keep making money.

So, if that's the atmosphere for you and you want to give it a run, I wish you luck but be aware, do not trust them!! They will stab you in the back to save face and their a*s - remember they are as brain washed as the reps but at least making good money. Dont ever forget 1% - Its very very hard to make it to that level like in any other position with any other company. I personally have found you can find wonderful companies in outside sales that give you growth opportunities, benefits, retirement plan, security, support - Don't fall for the BS dream they sell and dont listen to anyone who tells you that you can make 6 figures so quickly - if its too good to be true, it most likely is AKA CYDCOR and all their offices. Good luck!

POSTED: Thursday, January 08, 2009

The people that posted stuff on here that still work there say what they say because they work there. I am a lawyer working on getting all of these deceitful Cydcor associated offices shut down. Michael Sessions is one of the big names that come up in my investigations daily. Take a look at this report done on Cydcor and its associated companies and it may change you current employees minds. The system works for some, maybe 1 % max if that. Thousands of people go through these Cydcor offices yearly, maybe one out of every 10 offices ever makes 6 figures like they claim to all make. Hopefully you get out before its too late. My deepest regards go to you all.

I was scammed by a Cydcor office in Chicago

AUTHOR: Thomas - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 13, 2008

Most of us are not talking about the techniques of making commission B to B or B to C sales here. If this was advertised from the get-go as a commission only sales job focusing on sales, we would not have a problem with it. The problem is that Cydcor and other DS MAX spawn use shady recruitment and retention practices, and bad labor practices. I know that bad labor practices vary from office to office, but they do exist, and they do make you do a lot of unpaid work outside of doing sales. The shady recruitment and retention practices (Cult like environment) are par for the course for ALL Cydcor/DS MAX offices. Finally, it took over a month to see my first paycheck, and I was not making enough to live on even though I was making enough sales to lead and train.

The DS MAX sales system (the 4's, 5's, and 8's), if used correctly in a legit business, is effective. That is not what most of us are talking about here.

Not For Everyone

AUTHOR: Theav - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 11, 2008

I am sorry that you had a bad experience with the firm, however I've been with the company for three years now and my life has changed for the better. It's not brainwashing, it's training you to think differently about normal approaches.

1. Practice pitching, why? BECAUSE YOUR GAME IS AS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR PRACTICE. I wouldn't have gotten better on the field without practice pitch because it taught me to reword and handle situations for future use.

2. Your check, yes, it is COMMISSION ONLY but that's the beauty of it, it proves how much you are worth. If you can't make it on a commission only job, what does that say about you? The harder I work, the more money I make. Yes, this may take a month before I cut my first 1,000 dollar check in a week, but when I did it's joy, knowing now that I can do it, every week afterwards, my checks were higher and higher.

3. Coaching, it's not talking down to you. We all started in the same position. In order for this company to grow, you much teach others. You must humble yourself and be willing to be coached and follow the best. As soon as I developed my student mentality, that's when I started seeing results.

4. It is a professional business environment. I am sorry if it's not CORPORATE AMERICA but we do handle ourselves professionally.

Just because your experience didn't go the way you were told, it only means that this opportunity wasn't for YOU. I've seen so many people come and go in this company, for I've now branched out on my own, the ones who've left, clearly means that this wasn't for them. Not every job is cut out for a person. If everyone could do this, then there would be no opportunity.

AUTHOR: A - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 24, 2008

I totally agree with you on the fact that that business is not for everybody. However they do not let you know that til weeks after you have started. Michael Sessions has a history of selling the dream. He tells each and every person that comes into his office that we have a management training program and I will show you how to make money. Does he tell people that in order to do well you will have to kiss his a*s? Does he tell people that he will get you your own company, however he will make sure he controls every aspect of it so you might have papers saying you own a company but in reality, your company is owned by Cydcor and Sessions. He doesn't tell you that does he. Hard work will get you far, just not with Cydcor.

Bill Bill. These types of positions are not for the faint of heart. I understand where you're coming from b/c I used to work for one of these businesses. I don't anymore b/c I realized after working there that I didn't want to be a manager but just wanted to be in sales. The thing you've got to realize Bill is just b/c something doesn't work out or you're not successful at it doesn't mean you go calling it a scam or blaming other people. Everything in your life starts and begins with you. If you aren't willing to cold call and you don't have the drive or confidence for a position like this then thats fine move on and go find a desk job. Just realize what you're getting yourself into when applying for positions as such. As long as you know what to expect there won't be any surprises. But now you know what to look out for and it sounds like you're probably better off where you're at now. Obviously door-to-door selling is not the ideal job for anyone but here the final goal is management. And I can say it isn't easy to get there but at least take what you learned there and apply it in future situations. Thats what I did.
