If you buy a Gold membership Matchmaker.com will renew the membership and charge your credit card without notice even if you cancel your membership. Even if you cancel your Gold membership Matchmaker.com may charge your card and refuses to refund the money. I noticed the unauthorized charges two days after they hit my bank and notified Matchmaker.com that I had not authorized the renewal and had already told them I did not want to renew. They still refused to refund the unauthorized charges. Instead, the extended my Gold membership for another six months even though I specifically told them I had cancelled my membership.

It is kind of like "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."
