On April 13th 2016 I saw a rental on Zillow for a property on **** * ****** * *** in Phoenix Az owned by Maureen Fatherston. I contacted her and went and saw property the next day. The current tenant showed me the property and said that she had lived there with her husband and children for 3 years and were leaving at the end of the month. The place was pretty dirty and had been lived in as you would expect from a tenant with 2 small children. I contacted Maureen later that day saying that I wanted to sign a lease and also mentioning that the current tenant was not a great housekeeper and that I thought the carpet would need to be replaced in both bedrooms. I also stated that the unit would need to be painted and that the place would need to be cleaned and sanatized. Maureen assured me that it would be and that she had a warranty on the carpet and would send her person by to check it out and to see if it could be saved. She texed me back saying to put 500.00 deposit in her accout at B of A on friday the 15th which I did. On sunday the 17th she sent me a PDF of the rental agreement with all of these charges for cleaning deposit and a cleaning fee, dog depoist and a redecorating fee. I emailed her right away stating my concern for all of these deposits which had never been discussed in her add or over the phone. I expressed my concerns for all of these added fees that were not disclosed untill after I had agreed to put the 500.00 in her account.. On Monday i sent her numerous emails asking her when I could move in  if the unit had ceiling fans, and did the carpet get inspected. I again expressed my concerns for the condition of the unit and asked her to please tell me if she was going to paint and clean the unit and what was the condition of the carpet.. She answered me back in the evening and stated I was being unreasonable in asking about these things and that she will not rent to me. I asked her to return my deposit and she repiled when she rented the unit she would send my money back. She said I had broke the lease , which has never been signed by me. It is now Wenesday the 20th and I still do not have my 500.00 deposit back. I then googled her name and foun that she is listed on Ripoff Report and here I am. I do want to thank her tenant for warning me to get everything in writing because she promises things and then does not come thru. When I read Lisa account I new that I had been scammed. Please BEWARE of her.!
