Maurice and Nichelle are some of the worst neighbors ever, with the exception of Ed and Connie Slocum (who will be in a later paragraph here.)Since we have been in the building, they have went from being somewhat friendly to threatening us.

When we first moved in, they offered to help us move things from the moving truck to the second floor...for a price. It was soon that we realized that Maurice was drunk all the time. Not an exaggeration, but from the time he wakes up and coughs up phelem (it rattles our floors and pictures on the walls when he does this at six in the morning) until he passes out, he is drinking beer.

Our real problems started in Novemeber, after I gave them some of our son's hand-me-downs and some books on potty training. They have an almost 5 year old son who they haven't potty trained and I was trying to be nice. I guess they took offense to the books and began being especially loud. I understand that children like to run around, because our son has ADHD, but even he understands that you do not run in the house.

They would crank their stereo up so loud that it broke picture frames, they would scream at each other and their child in such words that I would NEVER use towards anyone. I went down one night in January to ask them nicely to turn their stereo down, because we couldn't hear our TV over it, and was verbally assaulted by a very drunk Maurice. Nichelle isn't that bad of a person, but she never went to school and cannot read, so I think that she puts up with his *&*& because of that.
After that, we began calling the police about the noise. The police never did anything about it.

For the next part of this, I need to bring up another set of neighbors, Ed and Connie. When I first viewed the apartment, I thought they were just old people that didn't have much to do except mind their ten cats and dog. In August, they began pressuring us to affilate with a person running for Senate. We really don't care about politics that much, and I guess that pissed them off.

They receive rental assistance for their two bedroom apartment, which is fine, because to be honest, most of Winooski does due to outragous rent prices. But their apartment is so clustered with junk, you have to turn sideways and suck in your stomach to get through. It's a fire hazard but the landlord won't do anything about it because the Slocums have a lawsuit against him and anything he trys to do, they run to their lawyer claiming retalliation.

I called the landlord in December because Ed has a lock on the basement, so no one in the buildings can use the washer and dryer. He has it locked because he picks through the garbage cans around town for bottles and cans, as well as broken appliances that he sells during the summer at yard sales.
The basement was supposed to be cleaned out by October, but was never done.

During our battles, somehow Ed and Connie became involved. Connie tried to hit me with her car in the driveway, forcing me to jump out of the way. If I didn't have surgery coming up, I would have let her hit me to get her out of the building. When I went back to my door, she flipped me off. The Gaudettes invite her over, and she is a very loud woman. We could hear all sorts of nasty stuff they were saying about us while we were trying to eat dinner.
My son is terrified of these people.

Then, just two weeks ago, my husband stuck his head out the window to talk to Maurice about ending the crap with calling the police every day. Ed was outside with Connie as well, and Ed treatened to come up to our apartment and "kick our *&*&". Connie was screaching something along the lines of getting us thrown out of the building, and Maurice was just trying to antagonize my husband to fight.

My husband asked Ed to quiet down and listen, but he wouldn't, so I stuck my head out the window and told Ed to shut up for a minute. For that, Ed called me a "*&*& w***e!" and other words that I will not repeat here. They then threatened my son as well as us again. The police won't do anything about it, and the landlord's hands are tied due to the b.s. lawsuit. (Connie, all 500 lbs of her slipped last winter and broke her hip. Funny that Ed says he's in charge of the maintence of the building and surrounding lot, but when money is involved, he's not) We don't want to move because we love the apartment and location, so we're just hoping that they leave...soon!

Thanks for listening to my pent up rage...there's more, but this is probably a lot to read now...I'll file an update!

We have pleaded with our landlord to find us another apartment and finally we have found another one! We will be finally out of this hell hole in 6 weeks.

Since I last posted, the police have done absolutely nothing. So I, in turn, called the property manager every time the neighbors were excessively loud past 10 pm, or when they threatened us. The old property manager was great, because he would come right down and chew them out.

Granted the peace would only last for a few weeks, however, it was something.

Then the property manager retired, and now we had some other guy. I called him several times relating to the problems, and he said he would come down. But when he realized what neighbors I was talking about, he refused, saying that they would shoot him.

So we started looking for another place aggressively. Having no luck, we turned to a former employer who has several rentals, and she happened to have one coming open soon. So we jumped on it, and we couldn't be happier.

So anyone who is looking for an apartment in Winooski VT, DO NOT RENT AT 373 WEAVER ST. The tenant before us tried to hang herself because of these people.

Just Wednesday, our son was at school and we had our windows open, and Ed started screaming horrible racial slurs at an african man that lives in the next building, including "porch monkey" and the "N" word.

He also said that all black people come over here to take over the country. How messed up is that?

These people need to be commited....and thankfully we're getting out of here before we need to be.

Well, it has reached the boiling point and we have asked our landlord to find us another apartment. The reason we haven't moved was because we would lose our deposit for breaking the lease, and a thousand dollars is a lot for us. We live paycheck to paycheck.

Also, the police told us we cannot get a restraining order because they haven't hurt any of us yet. Which means until we get a new apartment, which are also pretty hard to find here, we can't go outside to check our mail unless we carry a baseball bat with us.

My child is fine, and he understands that the neighbors are all bad. He also knows that the neighbors dare not to say anything to him or touch him because I would hurt them...probably even kill them. Our son is the world to us, and no one would hurt him, so I don't appriciate your comments about being negligent.

You do not love your apartment....

you love pain.

And if your son is a minor, it is simply irresponsible for you to subject your son to such abuse. In some locales you would be deemed negligent for not removing your minor son from such an enviroment.

So maybe you should REALLY REALLY REALLY rethink your priorities presently suggested by your last comment:

"We don't want to move because we love the apartment and location, so we're just hoping that they leave...soon! "

...because I really doubt that they will move.... why SHOULD they?
