We attended a time share presentation at Mayan Palace 27th September 2011, was supposed to be 90 minutes, lasted 8 hours! We were persuaded to trade in out two existing time shares and upgrade to theirs. When we arrived home in the first week we had two phone calls asking if we still want to keep our original time shares we said no, we do not want three! that is why we signed the contract, to be traded in.
I had an email on 11th November from Travel Around the World (company that works for Vida Vacations) first duplicity as we thought it was the same company!
As we are from UK I had various questions that I needed answers to. No reply from numerous emails and several telephone calls. Alarm bells start to ring.
On 2nd December I had another email from TATW saying they were cancelling the trade-in agreement, but purchase at Mayan Palace could still go ahead.
I contacted customer Services Carlos at Mayan Palace, who contacted TATW, as we said we wanted to cancel, as the terms of the contract had been broken by them.
Carlos said we could cancel but we would lose our deposit of $4118.00 plus another $600 cash, and we had already made the first payment of 194.04.
I do not believe they had any intention of completing the trade-in agreement, and all this would have meant is more wasted fees and money, so due to all the bad comments on the internet about this company we have cancelled, and will fight to get our deposit back.

Yes, unfortunately Mayan Palace is one of the most fraudulent resorts!! I also had a bad experience with them, the way they treated me, and all the lies i've heard.
The worst thing is that once you fall into their scam tactics it's almost impossible to get out.
Here's a list of complaints about this resort i've found recently,
you should take a look: timesharescam.com/timeshare-complaints-resorts-black-list/3-mayan-palace-timeshare-complaints/
Don't give up, i still have hope that sooner or later we are going to make a difference against those thieves.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

The sales tactics are the same for everyone at Grupo Mayan. Hard sell, disrespectful when you say no, broken promises. DO NOT think for one moment that you have an upper hand...these are professional con artists highly trained to take your money. You have no chance of ever seeing your money again or receiving anything close to the value you were promised. Assume that everything posted by Grupo Mayan and its affiliates is a lie or a scam. Never do business with this company, never buy a mayan palace timeshare scam

wow!! 8 hours! that's the longest i've ever heard. Thousands of people every year fall victim to fraudulent timeshare sales practices while vacationing in Mexico, and most of the frauds are being committed by Mayan Palace. The sales teams have carefully crafted and proven techniques to close sales, and are very skilled in ensuring that potential clients become timeshare owners. There's a company called Mexican Timeshare Solutions that can give you a free consultation on your matter, here you can contact them:
