I believe this to be the worst rip-off by McDonalds to date. It far surpasses anything concerning cold food or poor service. This said location plus another I visited in N.C turned out to be the same. Most everyone orders a value meal at the counter, gets there food, pays the bill, and sits to eat or leaves the drivethru window. Sometime you receive a receipt, sometimes you don't. If you do get one take the time look it over closely and use a calculator. When purchasing a value meal, on the sales slip you are charged for the sandwich and fries for one price and the drink is separate. In every McDonalds the prices for value meals are posted behind the counter. In both restaurant I have visited, I added the two prices on my bill to the price on the board. Not to my surprise they were different. On my bill I was charged 10 cents more for the meal than it was advertised on the board. These were two different restaurants in two different states. How many others do the same, I don't know, but I bet it's more than you think. At 10 cents per value meal sold at each location over the course of a year or longer is a pretty good chunk of change. That's why I think this is the mother of all fast food rip-offs just because no one really thinks to check the receipt, and there all getting taken to the cleaners 10 cents at a time.

Taxable Items

AUTHOR: AKHammer17 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 06, 2011

The soda is probably taxed a little different than the meal items. There could be a different tax for each state regarding syrup/sugar tax.

Mc D's

AUTHOR: Stan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 19, 2010

From what i have seen here many ppl confuse what they order with what they actually get.All of the fast food chains i have experienced intend to take your money and give you as little product in return as possible and Mc d's is no exception, you are paying the same for usually the next size up drink as you would for the indidual items in a value mealwhich is no value at all just hype(cost to them is almost nothing).

Computer Systems

AUTHOR: Mcmanager - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 09, 2008

I'm not sure about every Mcdonalds but the ones i've been at all work on computer system that updates the prices on our registers in comparsion to the those stored on our owner's isp. He does this to avoid having to drive to every store and update the computer system.

Sometimes there is an honest mistake, in which the price is increased and we are not told, which results in the the menu board being wrong.

Next time, you should trying talking with the manger, they might not even be aware that there menu board is out of date.

Something's wrong here.

AUTHOR: Rose - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 12, 2008

When we (as Mcdonalds employees) ring your meals up on our registers, there are a lot of different drink options you can get. So we use different register keys for them, therefore they are separate on the receipt. Some drinks are also more expensive, like shakes and orange juice. That's why they were separated on the receipt. If you got a soda with your meal and you added both the meal receipt price and the soda receipt price you should have gotten the price that was on the menu board.

One reason why you may have been charged 10 cents more is because Mcdonalds frequently has price changes, at least in my area, with minimum wage going up and economic stimulus checks and such...and the manager who changed the numbers on the menu board may not have done it at the same time as the person who changed the prices in the registers. One time we had a problem where Snack wraps were 10 cents more on the drive thru registers than they were on the front counter registers. I agree that it is unprofessional and annoying but if there is a problem with it I suggest talking to the manager or calling the store and if they are a good Mcdonalds they will give you a free dollar menu item, a gift certificate, or a refund. If they don't then simply switch where you eat, there are plenty of Mcdonalds around and not all of them are bad! Besides it's just 10 cents.

.99 Cent Menu

AUTHOR: Drivel92787 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 05, 2008

Corey stated,

"Interesting
The few times I go to McD's I usually order off the 99 cent menu. Where can you get what in essence is a quarter pounder for 99 cents with one less slice of cheese. Anyway, when I ordered the 99 cent fry at the McD's on IH-10 and Wurzbach they give me one of those 'little paper sleeve' with a few fries in it. Every other McD's I've ever eaten in, gives me the small cardboard box with more fries.

Now I could care less about what they come in or really how many fries I get. BUT I KNOW, the management of that location is cutting portions, to increase the bottom line. If he wants to 'short portions' that's his business. So for 99 cents, he selling 3 or 4 cents worth of fries and cutting the portions at that. I don't have to eat there, there are plenty of others."

The first thing I would like to do corey is correct you! Because you are wrong, the .99 cent fries come in the small white "paper" container. So, where ever you went before wasn't doing their job!

missing the point

AUTHOR: Marie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 18, 2007

I loving reading posts from people who completely don't understand what is going on. It's like visiting another world to see how their minds work.

Of course tax rates differ.. duh. But the author of this post is clearly speaking of prices before taxes. And if these locations are adding "taxes" before the tax then that is a whole other matter by itself.

The author is upset because McDonald's posted one price on the board (a pre-taxed amount) and then something else was actually charged to her (pre-tax again). Now, since tax is applied, some people fail to notice, or even care about a ten cent difference. But it is still wrong for them to advertise one price to people and actually charge them a different one.

Most of the time, it is not a scam. It is an ingnorant, lazy staff who could care less about your ten cents. Normally calling attention to the problem right then and creating a scene will do no good. I would say that you need to go up the chain a few levels and file a formal complaint with either the franchise owner or the corporate office. Make sure you save your receipt, and just for fun, snap a picture of that large menu with your camera phone.

States have different taxes...duh

AUTHOR: Br_lee_jack - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 20, 2007

States have different taxes so the prices are different. Some restaurants have even different prices because of the store manager. They sometimes get to decide what some of the prices are.
