We are in the process of furnishing our new home and are not stinting on quality. Our order through this company was for 3 large rooms of furniture in the best brand names (e.g. Hickory White, Berhardt, etc.) so our expenditure has been significant.
McLean Furniture Gallery is supposedly a shop where you can order top quality furniture. We had been shopping in reputable retail shops but it looked like we could save $2,000 and get the same furniture through this disreputable, dishonest McLean Furniture Gallery.
Trust us! It was a huge mistake and NOT worth the money "saved". Their policy is to pay half at the time of ordering -- for which we wired cash directly into their account -- and then pay the balance in full before delivery, which we did. They had promised delivery on a Friday and asked for a final check to be given to them on Thursday. When we went in on Thursday,as agreed, with the total balance due on our furniture, they starting hedging on when we would actually get delivery. Remember that we spent tens of thousands of dollars on this furniture order with them! We lived up to our end of the contract, but had to firmly press them to live up to their end!
Friday, the delivery truck pulled up and workers started unloading and setting up. After a couple of hours, they gave us a receipt of delivery to sign... BUT they had NOT delivered 10 pieces of furniture!!!!
When we called Tehmina Khan, owner of McLean Furniture GAllery, we asked where the rest of our order was and when we could expect delivery, she refused to tell us anything about the missing furniture. When we calmly but firmly asked again where it was and when we could expect to see it in our home, she started screaming verbal abuse over the phone. We went to the shop to see if we could find out anything in person, and was met with even higher pitched abuse and still a downright refusal to discuss the status of our missing furniture! As a result, we put a stop pay in the check.
The next day, we sent a fax asking again for a status on the furniture we had paid for but not received. At first this seemed to be getting results. Tehmina's husband came to our house on the weekend, apologized for their mistake and bad attitude and then promised either our furniture or a check for that portion in our mailbox by Tuesday. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.... nothing!!! So we called our attorney, who at this point we would rather pay that money to than this horrible woman and her thieving company.
This was met with several harassing and abusive phone calls - day and night - from Tehmina Khan!
The status now is that we have replaced our original check for the total order with certified funds for the furniture delivered and in our possession. WE are now ordering the missing pieces through a reliable, reputable company. And happy to be back dealing with honest, upfront, commissioned sales people!!!
ps... After we had already place our order, we were warned against this company by a business associate of ours who, as it turns out, had a similar experience with this company and this woman a few years ago!!! If only we had known ahead of time, we could have saved ourselves much grief and time!!! That is why we are placing this, and other, reports on the internet!!!m
