I was totally deceived in so far as believing I was receiving an insurance policy that was going to be similiar to my Blue Cross CA insurance. I was hit by a loss of employment that came unexpectedly and needed to buy an insurance policy that would pick up where my Cobra ended. The Cobra was very expensive (but looking back now - it would have been better to pay the extra and have a decent policy). I was told by my company that my Cobra would end soon anyway - so I felt pressured into getting something quick. This individual came in and sold me what I felt was a good policy - hospitalization, basic health insurance and then convinced me that life insurance was a good purchase also.

He was totally believeable and such a nice guy. The first concern was when the policy did not come through when I thought it would..... took a long time to get approved. Then I started getting letters from MEGA telling me that the policy was only Catastrophic coverage and not the policy I 'think it might be' and to call so they can sell me more. What? What was that all about? Then when you call, no one answers the phone? This company is unethical. They are coming after MA residents like sharks going after blood in the ocean. We are all required to have insurance - so we are 'suckers' I guess. I emailed MEGA, called the insurance sales person and left a message, and notified my bank.

MEGA is set up to take the money out of my account, and they better not do it on the 15th or they are going to get some major bad publicity from me. I duly notified them and no longer want their insurance. Seeing all the bad publicity on the Internet makes me realize I did not do my research and am sorry I wasted so much money on their lousy service. - $3,300.00 of mine plus another check needed initially as a deposit. I am sick.....sick that I was taken like this.

Janice I am sorry to readof your experience. It is very similair to mine. I posted a similiar report a few months back. Took way too long to get policy issued, once issued it was not what the agent claimed verrbally. I even wrote a letter to Mega expressing my total displeasure with the agents selling tactics (nothing in writing to review, customer "no service" after the sell) Imagine my surprise...when 7 weeks later I received a response from Vickie Whiteside, Investigator. Her response is a total crock of sh#t. she reports that all info regarding the policy was made available to me. No!! the 50% increase for my daughter having ADD and the rider for ER visits. No!!! Exclusion of my son b/c of prior back surgery. No!!! Deductible per accident or illness. No!!! Therapy only AFTER surgery. No!!!! I'm a registered nurse. Had these many holes in the policy been explained to me I would have NEVER written this guy a check. Oh yeah...cancelling was a nightmare. I never did get all of my money back. Miss Investigator reported that at the time of cancellation, I elected to keep the vision coverage. No I did not....I wanted nothing to do with MEGA but was not told that each part required a separate cancellation. They continued to draft my account until I actually closed the account to stop them.

Good luck..... By the way, in case you didn't notice..Bad publicity does not phase these folks in the slightest.
