When I was hired back in 2012 or 2013, I was told by my manager, Joshua Hill, that I would be splitting the net income of the merchants I signed up 50/50 with the company.  The best part was that if I quit, retired or even died, the residuals were mine as long as the companies continued to do business with MCPS. This is only fair, if you think about it because although the company handles the paperwork -  they take the expense out of the gross income - the sales reps have to spend a lot of time, effort and expense signing up those merchants.

I was also told by Josh that if a merchant was reluctant to sign a 3 year commitment, I should tell them that it is to there benefit to do so.  The reason:MCPS will not raise their fees for the length of the agreement.  If Visa or Master Card raises the rates we will pass them on but MCPS will not raise its rates to the merchant.

Months later when I was reviewing my residuals, which give a breakdown on the fees, I noted MCPS had raised the fees on my customers - some of whom are friends of mine - so I called the company.  I reached a customer service person named Sarah.  When I explained the situation her answer was "Everybody does that."  Well, I got stonewalled by everyone and decided that I couldn't represent MCPS any longer.  I haven't worked with them for about 2 years now.

My residuals, the ones I'm entitled to even if I die, just took a major hit.  The company now decided that they were going to penalize all reps who weren't writing for them anymore.  My residual from them was supposed to be around $134 this month.  I got $35.  They arbitrarily came up with a $99 a month penalty. That means that this month they got the 50% they were entitled to plus 75% of mine.  $1188 in annual penalties unless I go back to work with them. And, who's to say they won't make it another $99 next year? I contacted Josh and his boss Cliff and got rhetoric but not my money back.

I would be extremely interested in any class action suit that may be initiated against MCPS.  They don't care about their merchants or their sales reps.  Unfortunately, I'm afraid that there are a lot of companies like MCPS and they should all be investigated.  I worked for 2 others and they are no better.
