I received a letter from Ken Hughes from Merchants' Credit Guide on December 29, 2005 in which they claim I owe $174.32. The letter came to me under my maiden name. I have not used that name in 7 years. They claim that they are collecting for their client CFB Financial III LLC for creditor Sage-Day, I have never heard of Sage-Day in my entire life, nor have I ever received anything from them or CFB Financial III LLC for any kind of debt.

What is even better is that they sent this letter to where I live now in Massachusetts, and have for 5 years and at no time did I ever use my maiden name here, nor have I incurred any such debt from either company.

I have attempted to contact them by phone, both times being placed on hold for 18 minutes and 25 minutes respectively. I used the "leave a message" option 1 twice with no one returning my phone call. I sent them an email and a certified, RRR letter requesting further information, which I also faxed to them. Any and all debts that I incurred have been paid off for 10 years.

These people claim I owe them money, but no one will tell me why or what for, so I have put it in dispute. I have read several negative reports and tons of complaints about them, including the negative report at the Better Business Bureau. On that report, it states that they are striving to make changes, however, it does not look like that has happened.

I researched "Sage-Day" on line and I only come up with a Sage-Day private school in NJ or some kind of spa and I've never been to either one of those things!!!! I researched CFB Financial III LLC and came up with one company that really doesn't say what they do. Can you say ripoff?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Wrong Billing

AUTHOR: Cheryl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 10, 2006

This happens all the time with jerky credit companies. Most of the time, the are correct in their information and people legitatmetly own them money. In cases like yours, they mix up accounts and various other info and try to collect money from the wrong people. What I suggest is that you get a copy of your credit report...what is commonly know as a trimerge...which has the three major credit bureaus on it and will show all accounts that you have applied for and had on your credit report. Do yourself a favor and check through all the acounts just in case...you know id theft case. If they do not show up on your credit report...it is probably not your account. They need to prove that the particular account that they are trying to collect for is yours...if they give you a hard time, tell them you want the manager...explain the situtaion and they should be able to help you. If they give you a hard time, say I want to speak to your legal department...that normally gets them scared. If they refuse or they don't have one, tell them that you want to be connected to whoever can give the licensing information and that your attorney will be contacting them and the banking commission.(normally this gets them nervous) if that doesn't work, feel free to contact me and I'll give you a helping hand. I'm out of CT and I deal with this stuff all the time. Don't worry...no charge. You shouldn't pay anything thats not yours. I'm not sure about what information can not be diplayed, but you can search me on the web or check with the Banking Commission of CT website and they will give all our information for you. Its cheaper than 411 and they'll have our toll free number.
