Merchants Credit Guide ripoff Got a letter stating I owed them money Chicago Illinois

There was a dispute about the loan, transamerica took me to court, they failed to show up, the judge dismissed the case in my favor. This was 10-15 years ago. About 2 weeks ago I received a letter from Merchants Credit Guide co. stating I owed them money. I phoned them, I spoke to a MR. Jackson who told me it was up to me to provide them proof of the court records. Seems to me that they should have received this info before buying this from another credit collections agency. What do I do??
