Merchants Credit Guide Ripoff Fraudulant Bill Collecting Chicago Illinois

Just as someone else reported, I received a phone call to my home in South Carolina on October 8, 2004. It was a recorded message saying it is very important that we call Ken Hughes at 888-241-4134. The recording never addressed the name of the person they were calling. We called back, no Ken Hughes was available so a Mr. Tillman (no first name-refused to give the name) After listening to this man's rude demeaner that he didn't have to tell us the nature of their business, we just had to give him our phone number, we gave the number and they said they had the number listed for a Dawn Bourdon. We have no idea who Dawn Bourdon is. They said they must have a wrong number and they would delete our number from the data base. If this were a true collection call, saying that person doesn't exist would NOT make them delete the number.

On Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 we received a letter addressed to a Dawn Bourdon at our home address. The letter is from Credit Merchants Guide reading exactly as the letter described by someone else and it is claiming to collect an old debt from Sears of $2,334.64. We have never had a Sears card.

These people need stopped. This time they had an incorrect name, but some elderly person could actually pay these people something. They offer in the letter to accept a lump sum of 50% of the debt or 3 payments equalling 70% of the debt, or whatever you can pay each month until paid in full.
