MH Mechanical Michael Hughes - Quincy MA Terrible unlicensed work, stole my money, left my building with no heat and AC for months and disappeared Quincy MA

I've had enough seeing this guy operate a so called business taking money from honest people, and leaving them holding the bag of cr@p he delivers. Michael Hughes is a thief. He is Dishonest, unethical, irresponsible, and thinks he's gods gift to plumbers. Well he isn't. He's also UNLICENSED and will deflect on it when asked.

I hired MH Mechanical last November 2017 to repair an old boiler and to install new flue piping that had rotted away. What seemed to have started off well and adding on other small jobs, lead into larger jobs and ultimately installing a new cooling tower on my building and piping it. It all came to giant train wreck when he stopped showing up after 95 percent of piping was "finished". As well as leaving a few jobs unfinished to get the cooling tower installed in time.

After one leak that flooded the apt downstairs I installed cameras to monitor his work. There were things here and there that made me suspect his work but I figured it had to do with the age of my systemp and working around some issues that came with it. Not true to say the least. Well all his work ended up being completely dismantled after he could not finish the job after months of chasing him down.

What I thought all he had to do was some finished piping, he just couldn't give me the time of day. When he finally did show up he was either very late or would disappear to go to court or some other bs excuse that just wouldn't end. Being that we had some trust between us I was very reasonable with some beginning excuses such as personal issues that came up. But that quickly lost its clout when everything started s****.>

Hitting his head, being depressed, firing his worker, being that it may be true it still left me without a finished job and multiple promises to finish. I mean wtf man get your crap together and do your job. I paid you in full! By this time he'd show up one or two days than leave for another week. Completely inconsistent and not finishing the job. He couldn't even line up the cooling towers to predrilled holes and instead passed the blame to my engineer.

When he did drill more holes he charged me money but took over 2 to 3 weeks to do it a few holes. I had my engineer do it in 3 hrs. The new company I hired deemed all his work inferior, not to code, and just done wrong wrong wrong by the book. It's as if someone screwed up toast, he'd be the one to burn it and have it catch fire and burn your house down. I had one contractor say he bit off more than he could chew and the other say he bent you over and didn't use any lube.

I also paid this guy in full ahead of jobs being entirely complete at this point because what I thought was a trusting relationship was in reality him using me as a personal piggy bank. He has no idea how to doing business and is a fly by night operation. As the money dried up on the big job he bolted to go get other work leaving me high and dry. Even saying he undercharged me!!! He left my building without AC and my tenants complaining for months.

I ended up buying everyone portable ACs while I scrambled to find a contractor in May which is the worst time. He installed my cooling tower in February! A lot of things just started piling up that made me really doubt this guy. It seemed as if he was looking for issues that never were there. As if to find extra work just to line his pockets. I just had a new roof installed and he called out cuts and punctures here and there. Even saying I needed a roof drain when really it wasn't absolutely necessary.

Mind you he had a roofer as his helper. I know for a fact he made some cuts himself while working on the roof out of sheer carelessness. Though he called them out he didn't take responsibility and saying he just found it. I just had my roofer do a warranty walk through and they didn't see a giant gouge caused by a saw? He went even as far as to call me a "friend" which I thought was weird. Inviting me to his birthday (which I humbly declined). I wasn't going to mix business with personal life.

This guy has no boundaries. He never pulled work permits saying they were never needed and now I know why he freaked out when he set off the fire alarm. I have every photo, text, invoice and checks between this guy to showcase his inferior work and what was before he touched and what was corrected. He poses in front of MY mechanicals as to boast he did something of value. Who pipes an water outtake pipe pointing up?? he does. He even came to my house to pick up checks I even sold him my late father's work van in which he kept a number of items.

He hired an electrical contractor under his name who disappeared with my money. The last thing he told me after I fired him was he had my money from the electrician but also asking why I'm so stubborn not to let him finish the job and let him make due and finished it with hope you had a nice father’s day. You owe me more than what your thief of a sub took.

I gave him multiple chances to finish his work but I decided no good was to come of it if I even let him finish. Probably the best decision that I made with this guy was Firing him. Just so you are aware Liability insurance does not cover bad workmanship. It only covers damage caused by bad work. There are multiple reviews of this guy online and he has changed names of his company a few times probably because of bad work. Wicked Fast Plumbing to name one of them. Also signing onto different hiring websites to hide his history.

I even questioned him on some scam reports and he said he deals with so many customers sometimes they are crazy. Well that was a complete bold faced lie. There are so many other things this guy did that I could write a novel. He’s wasted so much of my time and energy don’t let him waste yours. In the end if he screws up he will not hold himself responsible, he will have some sort of excuse that it was a freak occurance or he will blame another contractor.

He only cares about Himself not YOU the customer. I learned a thing or two and I write this review so others don’t learn the hard way. Do not waste your precious time and hard earned money. He will take it and leave you with nothing but aggravation, a bitter taste in your mouth and in debt and a system worse off.
