I was looking for a replacement motor for my vehicle. I performed a nationwide engine search and Mid City Auto Parts APPEARED to have the product. I called sales and spoke to a gentleman named Robert. Over the next week and a half Robert and I worked through the details to place the order. The details included providing Mid City Auto Parts with all the car and engine specs so they could verify the correct engine was available (VIN number from my car, engine family codes, applied number model, option code, manufactured date, engine type code and tran type code just to name a few). In addition, I specifically told Robert I do not want a Japenese import motor and the engine must have an egr valve like my existing motor has.
Robert looked at all the information and confirmed they had the right motor. Before placing the order I verified with Robert if the wrong motor was sent (a motor sent with no egr valve, or a japenese import)that I would not be charged any shipping cost to get the motor back to Mid City Auto Parts or any restocking fee due to it is mid-city's fault. Robert confirmed that I would not have a problem and not to expect any fee's (shipping or restocking)if the wrong part was sent. At which point the engine was ordered.
A week or so later the motor arrived at my mechanics shop. This is when all the problems began to surface. The first thing was the motor was damaged (SHAUN likes to say this occurred during shipping of course). Also, no receipt was sent with the motor. I called SHAUN and told him about the problem. I did not even get a minute into the conversation before SHAUN hung-up the phone. I was surprised especially since I did not even get indignent with this person. So I proceeded to call back only to get SHAUN's answering machine. I tried calling the main number to speak to SHAUN's boss, but I was told he was the manager and I would have to speak with him. Great, finally after a few days of me leaving messages SHAUN decides to call back. I told him of the damage and he just pushed it off on the shipping company and was not willing to make good on the company's warranty. So be it.
My mechanic then pulled my motor out and fixed the broken parts on the replacement engine and put the motor from Mid City Auto Parts in. This is when the real problem occurs. I receive a call from my mechanic that the wrong motor has been sent. I proceed to call SHAUN to alert him of the problem so we could get it resolved. This is when I was privy to the worst customer service I have ever received.
All SHAUN did was talked about the incompetency of my mechanic. In addition, SHAUN has done nothing to resolve this problem to date. At one point SHAUN mentioned trying to swap intake manifolds. Well that is not acceptable nor practical. SHAUN is failing to realize I ordered a specific part just for this reason. If I wanted a motor with no egr valve I would have requested it. At one point, I was able to get in touch with Robert, from sales, and he could not believe the wrong motor was sent since all the information had been given about the engine before the order was ever placed. Since then, I have left countless messages for SHAUN but have not received one phone call from him. I have tried to call to get the owners name and number and subsequently get transferred to SHAUN's voice mail. I am approximately 30 to 45 days into trying to return this part. I have given up on calling SHAUN. This company does not practice what they preach in regards to customer service and their warranty policy.
So as of today, I have a worthless 1000 dollar motor sitting in my car at my mechanic's shop. Also, a large bill for the motor installation and will be receiving another bill to have the motor removed. Not to mention being without my primary source of transportation. THANKS SHAUN.
My recommendation: DO NOT ORDER ANY PARTS FROM THIS COMPANY. IF YOU MUST DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. IN ADDITION PUT THE ORDER ON A CREDIT CARD.
