PSA... before anyone takes their truck, car, go kart, scooter or anything else to Mike Horn at Mike’s Performance in Everett please come and look at what you’ll get for your money.

Long story short, I was told 1.5-2 weeks for the swap to be completed. At week number 7 I finally went and got my truck back while being today it was all good to go. To say the least I was shocked by the quality of work. I was given every excuse under the sun as to why it was taking so long, I had to source several parts for them to move the project along as well as tell them how to do certain things.

The craftsmanship (if you call it that) is absolutely horrendous. I’ve tried several times to come to a solution with him on this but the only option he has given is for me to allow him to fix it. While I would normally be ok with that, and I did take a day out of my vacation that was supposed to be spent with my family after my daughter got married last weekend but I was once again blown off, I’m not ok with it.

After really looking at the quality of everything they did, I simply don’t want him anywhere near my vehicles again. Unfortunately we were unable to come to a solution personally so this is on its way to the courts. However in the mean time I thought I should allow everyone to see the work that he is so quick to defend.

In all my attempts to come to a solution, he can only talk about the fact that his work has to be worth something. I’ve tried to explain to him that his work is worth something, same as the damage he has done and the unfinished work. He doesn’t see any value in any of that and has only offered to fix what I want but only on his terms. When we negotiated a day for him to come fix the first round of problems I had found, (Monday) he shot me a message at 1 in the afternoon and said he had to go to his shop still and build a crossmember and then he would hit me up.

Mind you I live 1.5 hours MINIMUM away from his shop in traffic. I told him it would be at least 5 o’clock by the time he would arrive and I wasn’t going to wait around all night for him to get done so I could put my other cars away (didn’t want him working around them) as I had to work the next day. Since then I’ve been blown off and ignored with only an offer to fix it if I bring it to him now.

I’ve wasted a total of 8 weeks on this guy to get my truck ruined by him. I’m sure I’ll have a few more days in court and then hopefully it’ll be over. It’s sad when a plumber can build nicer cars than a “professional car builder” at a shop. I have hundreds of screen shots and several videos for anyone interested- I’ll post a few pictures of the sketchy stuff. The harness was put together with butt connectors and not shrink wrapped or soldered.

Fan wiring was twisted together and electrical taped into the harness.

The engine crossmember was butchered with a torch to make the motor fit.

Shift module is just hanging on the trans- trans doesn’t shift on its own.

Power steering hose was welded together and stripped- and leaks.

They dropped my hood and put a huge dent in it and broke the hood ornament.

Ebrake cable from the pedal was cut- unable to reconnect without installing a new pedal assembly/cable.

Bundle of wires in the frame was hacked and popped the fuses and just left.

Radio and dash completely disassembled to install new gauge cluster- wiring is a mess to the new cluster.

Interior dash is still disassembled and strewn about.

Gauges were never calibrated or set up.

All wiring under the hood is haphazardly strewn about.

The entire truck is covered in greasy finger prints from the core support to the tail gate.

They disassembled the core support and grill to make it easier to get to the motor to work on it... most of the bolts are missing and several of the headlight retainers are broken....

Literally the list goes on and on... now for the shocking part- this cost me 4K for him to do to my truck. And I supplied the motor/trans and transfer case.
