Mikey's Pizza Delivery guys are scammers who rip people off, and owner's backs them up Jacksonville Florida

This company has employees and owners who are all scammers.  Here's what happened.  I just moved into a condo located right across the highway from this restaurant.  I wanted to order a pizza and figured I'd support the local businesses, so having seen the restaurant storefront, I went online to order a pizza to have delivered.  I called the restaurant and ordered a pizza.  The online ad said that there was FREE delivery within 3 miles. 

The price of the pizza was $12.50.  With tax, the bill would have been $13.33.  When the delivery guy showed up, he stated the total was $16.50, plus tax.  $4.00 higher than what was expected.  When I questioned that total, he quickly backed down, stating it was $14.50 plus tax.  I suggested that the pizza was only $12.50. What was the other $2.00 for?  Delivery charge, he said.  So, I paid and even gave him a 15% tip.  

When I got inside with the pizza, I remembered that the website said there was FREE delivery within a 3 mile range of the restaurant.  We live right across Beach Blvd from the restaurant.   

This isn't about the money, it's about the principle.  These people are ripoff experts.  If you can imagine what $4.00 extra charge on every pizza delivered amounts to, then you can understand why you do not want to do business with these people. 

Anyway, I called the business and spoke to the owner.  I explained that the website says there is FREE delivery within 3 miles.  I explained that the delivery driver tried at first to charge me $16.50 plus tax, rather than $12.50. 

I asked for my money back and was rudely told by "Mikey" that my business wasn't needed and I would not get my money back.  Is that the way a responsible businessman treats his customers?  I then drove to the restaurant to explain how the delivery driver tried to take advantage of me by trying to pad his pockets with ill gotten gains.  He was intent upon ripping me off! 

I also pointed out that the online website states that delivery is free within 3 miles.  The owner tried to explain how gas prices had increased and how he now always charges a minimum $2.00 delivery charge.  The online webpage says it's free within three miles.  This restaurant does not honor it's advertising!  BEWARE!

This story ended when I had to call the Jacksonville Sherriff's office and had an officer respond.  We met at the restaurant and to make a long story short, the restaurant refused to refund our money, but did refund the delivery charge.  The delivery driver, when confronted, refunded the tip I had given him, which I gave him before I realized the attempted rip off that he had tried.    

I will never do business with any company who promotes false advertising as this company does, and has employees who think they are smarter than the consumers they are serving.  Neither should you.

By the way, the pizza wasn't even good.  It was bland and burnt on the bottom.  I do not even understand how they have managed to stay in business with ruthless employees as well as unethical ownership.  Buyer BEWARE!!!
