We read online and had talked by telephone to Chris, Skip, and Scott at the Mileage Shop at 928-772-6600 who told us we should expect a 20% to 40% improvement in gas mileage with the use of their hydrogen generator. At their recommendation we purchased the higher capacity of the two known as The Mileage Saver double cell. They told me installation was not an issue and would only take about 30 minutes to install on my vehicle, the unit was easy and inexpensive to operate and they had personal experience with the benefits in their own vehicles, in particular they referred to a Chevy 2500 diesel but worked just as well on gas or diesel. To the contrary it took about ten man hours to fabricate special brackets to install, and upon completion on May 6, three employees and myself used a speaker phone and spoke with Chris at the Mileage Shop. We all found him somewhat sarcastic when he told us we had not followed the owners manuals mixing procedure correctly for the double unit but it was a very minor variation. Please note that when we called back the next time we were told that the owners manual was no longer current and needed to be updated. That was our first clue to the dog and pony show that has occurred since. Every time we call we get different recommendations about how to mix or what amperage to try to achieve and that every vehicle is different and you will just have to keep trying until you find the sweet spot for your vehicle. We have used a number of different strengths of mix giving us different amps, we have called and talked, we have cleaned and recalibrated spent a lot of time with gallon jugs of distilled water and turkey basters, and now the amp gauge is broken and the generator is leaking. The unit has not been abused or damaged by us. We have followed their suggestions for record keeping and to check for leaks but have seen no benefit other than maybe one time a 10% increase in gas mileage and that could easily have been due to different weather conditions, driving conditions or blend of gas from the pump. We have contacted them to return the unit for a full credit and they tell us that they can only repair or replace the unit and that their only real claim is that the unit will produce hydrogen gas and nothing more. This farming operation has qualified employees that maintain and operate approximately 40 pieces of diesel, gas, LP gas, and natural gas equipment. Like the rest of America we are desperate to save on fuel, but the Mileage Shop is nothing but a scam shop who now says their only claim is that it will produce hydrogen gas. Do not get sucked in on this scam. Will not save you money by giving you better fuel economy and they will not refund your money when you find out that the product does not work.

Mileage Shop

After doing a little research on the pros and cons of the feedback presented I found there are more positive than negative opinions about this product. Being a small business owner I am familiar with the "sour grapes" people that are encountered and I am also familiar with the fact that not everything works for everyone the way they think it should or that every item is correctly functional every time.
I believe The Mileage Shop should be flexible enough to accept this item for inspection to be sure all is well with this particular unit.
So far, I have seen only two negative reactions to this product. Not enough to give me a reason not to try it after reading the many positive responses for it.
I have 2 old Chrysler vehicles that receive 25 and 29 MPG, but a little more MPGs would be greatly appreciated, so I will try 1 kit and see how it works. If I am satisfied, I will buy 1 for my other car and 1 for my 4X4.

It's wonderful that this snake oil outfit has a beautiful retail store.
Scott, please explain how this HHO snake oil gets around The Law of Conservation of Energy! Even IF an alternator was 100% efficient (which they are NOT) there still is the pesky friction of the bearings and serpentine belt that WASTE ENERGY.
Take your time shill, we'll wait.
P.S. Even a high school physics student would realize this HHO crap is snake oil, nothing more.

HHO is a ripoff

All of these hydrogen generators are total ripoffs. Yes, it might generate hydrogen. That takes energy from the alternator -- significantly more than the energy produced by burning the hydrogen. In addition, you are throwing the engine's air/fuel mix out of whack, which will also cause problems. Of course, in most cases, the amount of hydrogen produced is so trivial that it has no significant impact one way or the other. Think about it, people: if it made sense, car manufacturers would be falling over themselves to put these into every new car. The best you can do as far as mileage is inflate your tires to the proper pressure, and change your spark plugs, distributor cap, and oxygen sensor if they are old. There is no magic bolt-on accessory that will somehow improve gas mileage.

the product is a total fraud. It may generate some hydrogen, but it will not noticeably improve performance. First the amount generated is just too low. Second, you have to protect the unit from freezing in cold weather, no easy task. Anything added to the water to prevent freezing introduces new problems.
Save your money, almost ALL of the "fuel saving" products do little to nothing to improve mileage or performance and may have just the opposite effect.
These people pop out of the woodwork everytime gas prices get high.
The ONLY benefits to these devices are to the bank accounts of the sellers.
Don't take my word for it, Google the reviews yourself.
To the "employee", you are either deluded or just hyping a worthless product. Find an honorable profession.

You should read the Mileage Shop website better before you start talking bad about them. The address of the company is clearly posted on the contact us page on the website along with their business hours. I have been working for the company for almost 5 years and I can tell you that they have a beautiful retail office space and invite everyone to stop by at anytime to check out their new product line and talk with one of their hydrogen specialists. If you don't believe that their office sign photo on their website is real why don't you stop by the office so that you can see for yourself.

I was interested in the product - after reading through the site I became suspicious for 2 reasons.
1. I did not believe the technical details
2. It didn't feel right
I then did a search on the net and became even more concerned.
Here are some observations
1. No company Address
2. No Company Contact names
3. I am convinced from pixel analysis that the company logo with the vertical orange stripe has been added in photoshop - I challenge them to put up a hi def image and prove me wrong.
4. I don't believe the photographs are form their workshop.
5. The branch manager did not give his name.
