MIST(tm) In-Cart Quality Service is a scam offered by car dealer's service departments added on for additional dealer profit that provides no real value. This service costs about over $120.00 and is totally unnecessary. They claim this will help people with allergies, when in fact the treatment leaves the interior of the car with a chemical odor, where none existed before.

The issue of air quality inside the car is from the smog coming in from outside the car while you are stuck in traffic or behind a truck. The best thing to do is put the car's air system on recirculate so it continues to filter the inside air quality to improve it. This is designed to scare consumers, especially mothers with children, that there are harmful micro-organisms that can be linked to a host of breathing related problems, when in fact, the chemical odor left in the car by this MIST(tm) treatment can worsen these conditions.

If you have problems with breathing difficulties, allergic reactions, frequent headaches or hypersensitivities, you would be convinced immediately that that MIST(tm) will make you ill the second you inhale inside a car once MIST(tm) service has been performed on this.

If you go to their web site, there is no contact e-mail address or phone number to call for consumers. There is no discloser of what chemicals they use in the MIST(tm) process so you can see if there are things such as chemicals you would have a negative reaction to or the type of fragrances that may be used.

Discuss the concerns of air quality with a qualified Medical Doctor who's specialization is in allergies to confirm this information and your concerns. Any Allergist will tell you that air quality can be improved for your health with using a True HEAP air filter, such as those portable units sold in department stores used in the home. If you can find a True HEAP air filter system that can be installed in the car, then you would truly be improving air quality.

A look in there web site reveals a less than stellar list of car dealers that do MIST(tm).

MIST is a great product

AUTHOR: Chip - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 16, 2009

I totally disagree with Freddy.

My first experience with MIST was today on my 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo. It has sat for a while and we have had a very moist year in Florida. It did not have a bad smell, but was in need of improvement, and the AC did have a slight musty odor for a few seconds when first turned on.

After the 15 minute treatment, the car had a pleasant sanitary smell much like a doctors office. And within the 5 minutes recommended with the doors opened to air out, became totally smell free even as the AC was turned on and off.

I plan to buy a mold test kit and use it before having my wifes SUV treated with MIST as further proof that I believe this product should be considered for all family autos.

I loved my MIST service

AUTHOR: Evelyn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 21, 2009

I was so happy with my MIST service that I talked my son and husband into having their cars treated. I paid $70 each. My husband being a septic, bought a mold kit and tested his vehicle before he had it done. It showed the presence of mold. He tested it after, and there was no presence of mold. The service promises no significant regrowth for 3 months. We will be retesting at the 3 month point to see how it is doing. I will try to remember to update this post with that information.

I have an expensive air filter on my furnace in my home because I am concerned about air quality to contribute positively to my GOOD HEALTH. I have water filters as well to improve the quality of water I drink. I expect to live to be an old woman and I'd like to be a healthy one. I spend my money on being WELL, instead of the alternative, which is to pay for being sick. The MIST service for my car is an investment in my HEALTH.

I am sold on it's benefits. It makes good sense to me. Thank you.

Was It MiST?

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 28, 2009

My wife had the service done because of seasonal allergies (chronic runny nose in AC season) and the symptoms were eliminated after the service on our Pontiac Vibe.

The price and description of a strong chemical odor make me wonder if it was a MiST service that was done on the car. Sounds more like other services that use strong chemical "bombs".

We never had any odors after the service and had a good experience. We continue to do the service regularly (and so does my mother in law).

MiST In-Car Air Quality Service is certainly not a scam.

Dear Freddy
I would like to take this opportunity to address some of your concerns regarding our MiST product.

First of all, although you don't say so, I am assuming that what you have written on this site is based on your own personal experience with a MiST service? Am I correct? If so, I am very sorry that you had a bad experience with our product. This is the first time we have had any type of complaint about MiST.

At UView, we are very proud of our new product development capabilities and take extraordinary care that our products perform as well as we claim they do. With over 51 patents to our name, our business has been built on being the technology leader - manufacturing products for the professional automotive aftermarket. We sell our products in over 40 countries and supply many global vehicle manufacturers as well as private label our products for many prominent companies.

In your post you mentioned air quality inside the car is from the smog coming in from the outside Although this is certainly one area of concern, there are also toxins and micro-organisms which reside inside the vehicle that ultimately have a greater negative impact on the quality of air in the vehicle. The interior of a vehicle is a breeding ground for germs, bacteria, mold and mildew. We have provided a great deal of information regarding this fact on our MiST educational web site http://www.misthealthyair.org and our company website http://www.uview.com. Here you will find numerous articles and reports published from both governing bodies as well as universities regarding the growing concern over the quality of air in vehicles. As well, this topic is frequently covered by the media (i.e. The Today show and ABC News) in an effort to educate consumers.

Freddy, you have suggested that consumers should drive their vehicles with the ventilation system in the re-circulate mode. We would like to point out that this suggestion could cause harm to passengers in the vehicle doing so would contribute to high levels of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the car. This is precisely the reasons why many vehicle manufacturers automatically switch off the re-circulate mode once they reach a preset time limit. You also mentioned that there was a residual odor in the vehicle. It is possible that the MiST service was not performed correctly. This residual odor would only occur if the cabin air filter was not removed during service.

And, although HEPA filters are an excellent addition to a home to help airborne air quality they are very impractical for effective use or installation in automobiles.

We would like to thank you for your comment regarding not finding any contact info. or phone number on our website. This information actually is there, however, based on your comment; we will be looking at making it more prominently placed for easier access. In addition to the contact information, we also provide a MSDS sheet for MiST for any interested consumers, which indicate ingredients and other information.

Our MiST product is being used by many types of dealers with tremendous success. Some of those dealers include Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover, Honda, GM, Nissan, Audi, Hyundai,Lexus and Toyota just to name a few.

Freddie, we would like to offer you a complimentary MiST service as well as send you a literature package indicating all the test data and research that has gone into the development of this product. If you could please forward your name and address as well as the name of the facility you had the service performed at, we can arrange a free service for you at your earliest convenience. I am sure that once your vehicle has been properly serviced and you review the support documents you will understand the true benefits of our MiST product.

Mist - The Real Thing

AUTHOR: Aquadave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 26, 2009

After reading the Ripoff report about MiST and the company UView I realized information was not properly given. I represent a company that distributes UView products and MiST. MiST is simply a product or science that simply sanitizes mold, mildew and bacteria from the evaporator core, vents and ducts. All of the MiST information can be found easily on the UView/terraclean website. MiST also has been awarded an editor's choice award from Popular Mechanics as we have found UView's products to be thoroughly tested and innovative.

The MSDS for MiST, listing the chemicals, should be at the dealership. Did he ask for the MSDS? As someone who used to work at a chemical research facility I simply looked into toxicities of all chemicals used and found them safe. I simply asked UView for the MSDS and I make sure all of our dealers have this on hand for their customers and employees.

MiST typically sells, at dealerships, for a range between $55 and $75 and not the $120 quoted. If he was offered MiST for $120 he should be upset with the dealership and not UView's MiST as they do not set pricing.

In the 2 years we have sold MiST we have researched many documents confirming that automobiles can be loaded with bacteria, mold and mildew which can negatively effect a persons health. Almost all of these documents are government or college studies with significant testing. MiST offers a simple quick way to reverse that. We all clean our vents and ducts in our houses as we have learned that it can be unhealthy for us if left untreated. So to think we don't have potential problems in our vehicles air systems would be ignorant. As our vehicles sit outside in extreme temperatures and we keep them confined most of the time with recirculating air the MiST service makes sense.
