So I started modeling earlier this year and decided to submit myself electronically to those that allow you do to so.  One of these agencies was MMG.  A week after I submitted some pictures I got an email from one of their Talent Managers to come in for a meeting.  When I got there I immediately noticed how run down and cluttered their office space was. It gave off really bad vibes and did not pair well with the unwelcoming words I got from Symona, their head booker, as I walked in.  They didn't have a receptionist so I appeared lost and turned to her desk in hopes of being lead to my meeting.  She had a terrible attitude and clearly didn't want to be bothered. She ushered me away into their waiting room and said that the talent manager will meet with me momentarily.

I waited about 45 minutes until finally some young woman came out asking for me.  I stood up and she said, "Well, since you were late Michaleon cannot see you so we are setting you up with someone else."  First off, I was not late.  I was there on time and sat there waiting for my meeting AS INSTRUCTED by Symona.  You would think there would be better communication in an office as loud as theirs. But no, of course, they must act like they are better than you.  I was extremely insulted that they would try to intimidate me instead of recognizing that I had been their for 45 minutes without anyone's knowledge. I was obviously not a priority and sincerely I doubt any other potential "talent" is either.

So I finally went into a meeting with another one of their agents.

This agent looked like she was fresh out of college (turns out she is 22) and immediately said I needed more photos if I was to pursue modeling.  She mentioned that they submit 5% of their submissions through Actors Access and 95% through their online database (which they charge expensive fees for administration and upkeep).  I made the mistake of trusting these people as they showed me some of their success stories (basically one female model who had minimal success) and signed non-exclusively.  I made a deal with the talent agent to pay for 3 months of the database hoping they would get me work as they insisted that was the way to go.

Now here is where it gets sketchy.  In their manual it clearly states that they will NOT contact you every time you are submitted electronically to casting agents.  HUUUUGE RED FLAG.  If there is no actual receipt of what they are doing for you then they are NOT DOING ANYTHING.  These people have 1000's of talent and a good 98% of them sit in a filing cabinet.  After two months I had not heard from the booking department.  I emailed my agent countlessly asking if I had been submitted and each time she deffered the question with an irrelevant response. After much frustration I emailed her for the last time, stated my issues including how I didn't get booked and that I felt I was scammed.  She responsed by saying I have unrealistic views of the modeling business and that it would take at least a year for me to get work. HA! Yeah, with real, legitimate agencies you are booked frequently and much sooner than a year, come on now I wasn't born yesterday.  She also said I had been submitted all this time and hadn't heard back once.  Well, do you have the proof? Send me the receipt?  Nope, they don't have one because they don't actually submit you!

I laughed at her email, it was actually quite hilarious to have this 22 year old sorority girl trying to save her a*s.  All in all, I terminated my contract and hope that I will never deal with these kinds of people again.  I actually do not want to pursue modeling because of how awful my experience was.  Please steer clear of MMG. I'm learning from my mistake, avoid this for sure!
