I got my car towed from the vacant lot that used to be acme road house at 855 s rural during the pf changs run. It was towed by monster towing. A good friend of mine worked for monster so I called him to ask what i could do, he said i could get it back for free by doing a lien law. But he also told me that Monster doesn't even have a towing contract for that property. He said they were trying to get the contract away from the old tow company but couldn't get a hold of the property owner who lives in Chicago or something. So just as a joke at first they took down the old towing companies signs and put theirs up. The old tow company didn't know any better so all they did was figure out what the property owners name was and then forged his signature on one of their contracts. Monster towing doesn't even have a legal right to tow cars from this lot, I think they should be charged with vehicle theft for every car they took today. On another note my friend told me their contracts they had at ejoy cafe and the dirt lot to the west of ejoy were cancelled by the property manager over a year ago when there was a negative news story about them for their towing practices, and they still tow from them everyday. I guess these guys know how to take advantage of an absentee owner. I hope this helps other people out, I got my car back for free and didnt sign their stupid document either. It just pisses me off that they didnt have the right to take the car in the first place, They should be in jail. I hope The Tempe Police have the courage to stand up to these criminals.

In May of '10 my car was illegally towed by Monster Towing, from the lot behind ejoy internet cafe (now called The Fixx). From early May '10 until the present, ejoy/the fixx is owned by David Sweetman, the same scumbag that owns Monster Towing. He has signs that basically trick people into thinking it's ok to park there, then tows their cars.
I sued Monster Towing, and I won. Each and every other person (at least 13 as of this writing) who has sued Monster Towing has won. David Sweetman/Monster Towing has NEVER won a suit or coutnersuit, because their signs are not compliant with Tempe City Code 32 or ARS 9-499.05.
I have been in contact with Tempe PD. I have pointed out in the statute where it clearly states that a tow truck driver who tows from a lot, without the car owner's consent, and the signage is not compliant with the law, that they're guilty of a Clas 2 misdemeanor. I told more than one person at Tempe PD in no uncertain terms that I want to press charges, but they refuse to act for reasons I can't fathom.
Congrats for getting your car back for free, but don't let it end there. Your time, stress, emotional distress are worth something. Plus, they should have to be punished for their wrongdoing. Please, every one of Monster's victims...PLEASE SUE!!!
It's worth it. Monster prospers because most people have the attitude of "I don't want the hassle" or they don't know what to do. If every one of Monster's victims sued, David Sweetman would have to either get an honest job, or starve.
