When my contract ends with Verizon, I will never go back to them. I have been with them for over 10 years and they won't back their products. I purchased a phone from them and after two years, the area where you charge the phone broke. Not only would they not replace it free, I was forced to buy a new phone and a new charger. The charger that was two years old, I was told, would not work for any of their phones. Planned obsolesence. This is a way they make money off their customers. I never took out insurance on this phone because I was very careful with the phone. I cannot help it if the internal mechanism breaks because of useage. What they need to do is have a charger built like my cordess phone has and just place it on the charger when not in use. But that would be too easy and why would they want to do that when they can charge you each time you replace your phone with a new charger. The two year upgrade for a phone costs the consumer money.  I now have to wait another two years before I can say farewell to a company that will not stand by their products.

Usually The Case -- No Scam -- Just an Idiot

Every cell phone company I ever have been with has made you purchase a phone that is broken, if you have no insurance or still under contract.

This is not a ripoff report -- this is just an idiot.

phone broke

I do apologize that your phone's charger port broke but your phone is covered by a one manufactor warranty. Once your are outside of the warranty anything that happens to your phone is your responsibilty and since you didn't take out insurance you have to either use the upgrade or pay for the phone flat out. Samething with a warranty on a new car. If the warranty is up anything repairs are then your responsibility

Forced to buy???

AUTHOR: morgan - (United States of America)

If after 2 years your phone broke, your contract would have been over, how can you be forced to buy a new phone? You could have easily gone elsewhere or if wanting to stay with Verizon Wireless and not wanting a contract, just purchase a phone without a contract, that is always an option. You just sound like another whinner wanting something for free, what makes you so entitled? Did you have a choice when local media networks were going from analog to digital and had to purchase a box or are you paying for cable or satellite? Is that free?
