Mr. Handyman Price Gouging Dallas Texas

I was told upfront that the 1st hour was $155.00 and each additional hour was $90.00.  OK.  I wanted someone I could trust and get the job done.  Are your employees groomed to scrape the jobs for more funds?

Outrageous rates!!  The worker apparently gets only $20.00 per hour wages and the company gets the rest?  Even with overhead mark-up you wouldn't expect this to be more than $45.00 p/hour. 

At 11:20 AM, David (the Handyman) asked me if I wanted him to take and exchange some 2X4's I had purchased because they weren't long enough and he was going to lunch anyway.  I gave him the receipts and off he went.  He was gone over 2 hours.  My phone was dead and I didn't realize it.  I had only received one phone call in that 2 hour window from him and one from the Home Depot counter.  He said he had to purchase the 2X4's and put them on his company card because they wouldn’t exchange them and instead credited my card. 

At 4:30 PM David informs me his 8 hours are up.  He hasn't done nearly the amount of work for 8 hours worth of pay.  He then informed me that the 2 hours that he was gone exchanging 2X4's was part of his 8 hours.  NEVER was I informed that I would be paying the $90.00 p/hour rate for HIM asking ME to return MY Material.

As I was arguing about him taking the material back, he then states I have to pay a mark-up price on the materials.  100%.   He also states that I wouldn't have been able to bring the materials back in my car because of the additional length.  I've been hauling 10' lengths of lumber in my car for months.

As he does the invoice for the day, he then relates another $20.00 charge for the use of "The Van".  He says I was sent an email describing the additional charge!  Spam/delete file???

I'm furious.  I don't want to pay an additional $20.00 to use a company van which should be inclusive in the hourly rates.

Talk about a scam!!  Outrageous!!  Needless to say, I'll never use Mr. Handyman again.

As of this posting, my husband and I settled for 8 hours pay and no mark-up on materials.  We will NEVER use this company again.  I wanted to post this to make people aware.  Also, as of this posting, no one from this company has contacted me.  I received an e-mail when I posted this to their direct site stating that they had forwarded my e-mail on because it didn't go to the right department or franchisee!!???
