Deregulation has been the worst idea that the State Of Georgia ever had!!  While we were doing business directly with Atlanta Gas Light the customer service was excellent.  The claim is that our costs will go down with competitive resellers.  No one I know talks of anything but trouble with this plan.

The worst offender is MXEnergy.  They have a real problem with integrity.  I have filed a report with the PSC because I cannot get a fixed rate.  Their response, "she never asked for a fixed rate".  No of course not, I want to pay more per therm than anyone else in GA.  By the way, the PSC never questioned them.  In fact, MXenergy has multiple reports with the PSC with no corrective action shown.  I smell a rat.  The politicos in Atlanta have a pretty bad reputation for corruption and it looks to me like a gas reseller might be taking advantage of that.

I didn't choose MX.  MX took over Catalyst.  When they took over Catalyst, shazam, my gas deposit disappeared.  PSC said talk to MX.  MX got the benefit. MX claims to know nothing about it.  I wonder how many of us were scammed in that move.

Dealing with their Customer No Service is a trip.  One rep lies and the other backs him up.  MX will not take responsibility for their mistakes but have ways to punish the consumer for complaining.  They know that they can rip off the consumer with no ramifications

If you have a choice, go all electric.  The service and support is worth it in the long run.  If you must use a gas reseller, my informal survey says that Gas South treats their customers with respect.

If your state isn't deregulated...FIGHT IT TOOTH AND NAIL.  You will be happy that you did.
