I found Nanston Dental thru my insurance carriers referral list. First of all, I had issues with scheduling a simple appointment. I have twins and only work part-time until 1:00 p.m. therefore I was trying to schedule the appointment so that I wouldn't have to miss any work and lose money as well as checking my children out of school early. Well I was placed on hold several times because it seemed as though the girl was scrambling trying to figure something out. At one point I was told that the dentist doesn't "perform" those type of procedures during that time of day. Which is utterly ridicoulous because most of their patients are children and children have to go to school but I suppose they don't care that the children are counted against for checking out of school early. Anyways I was eventually transferred to someone else and she set the appointments up as I needed after she spoke to the dentist. When I arrived and after the services were completed I expressed my complaint to the girl that checked me out. She stated that from now on to just call her to set up my appointments. At the time I was like Okay well whatever but then afterwards I realized why in the world do I need to depend on one person to do something so simple? That should have been my first clue to run the other way but of course not I didn't.

The second issue I have with this place which is pretty much a standard thing in the dentistry business is how they go about performing for services and collecting their money. First off they lied to me when my twins had their services performed I had a balance of around $275.00 I asked if they had any payment plans and was strictly told " No ma'm I'm sorry we have to collect payment up front at the time of service" so I was forced to put the amount on my credit card which I am still paying for to this day. Let's fast forward a little they had claims on us from April 2009 all the way to October 2009. The first week in January I receive a statement for the first time showing I had a balance of almost $300.00 and that it was 60 days past due. I called them about the statement because it showed it was a "previous" balance but didn't show any itemization on there for what it was for. The lady informed me the balance was from several claims previous to December that the insurance did not pay for. Well this made me upset because I would not have services performed had I known that several months down the road I would get yet another bill I'm supposed to pay that I was not properly prepared to pay for. Of course the only response I got was sorry but the insurance didn't pay as much as we antcipated therefore you are responsiable to pay the remainder of the bill. How is that MY fault? I think it's deceiving to sit there and perform a service on someone and then them turn around and say Oh sorry but your insurance didn't pay us as much as we wanted so now we want the money from you. They still made money off of us-it's not like we walked in there and didn't pay them for ANYTHING. In today's economy they should be willing to help someone out by reducing the bill some or writing it totally off. I understand that my financial situation isn't "their" problem but the fact of the matter is I have 6 outstanding medical bills that I am already forking out money to every single month. At the end of the day they are a business and have to collect the money is what I kept being told. Well at the end of the day I have to be able to provide a roof over my kids heads, food on the table, and the bare necessity's in order for them to survive not what they "want" but "need". I ended up writing the facility a nice lovely lettter expressing my opinion. I got a phone call at 4:30 p.m. from Jeanine convenietly close to quitting time so of course when I called her back at 4:50 I received no answer. I did leave her a voicemail and she did return my phone call the following day. She stated that she had received my letter and had read my letter and wanted to "discuss" it with me. She then immediately followed into the spill of trying to collect money from me! Did you read my letter lady? Really? Because had you read my letter you would have known beforehand when you called to "discuss" my letter that I was unable to pay at this time due to my situation. She was rude, inconsiderate, and surely uncaring selfish little you know what! She got really short with me and stated that was fine she would send my account to their collections department and I could just deal with them. Well what choice do I have? I have already told you my sitaution and not only about outstanding medical bills but I am shortly due for surgery in February to remove pre-cancerous cells from my cervix. I suppose they would rather me cancel my surgery so that I can pay them something instead because lord knows when I have my surgery since it's a new year the insurance company will just apply it towards my deductible and I can just rot into cervical cancer and die. Never the less having yet another medical bill to pay on. We have asked for financial assistance and one place did "reduce" the balance but when you are paying 6 other people it really doesn't make much a difference. After I spoke to Jeanine I hung up and immediately called their corporate office and asked to speak to HER boss. I was told that would be "Ronnie" and I was only allowed to speak to his assistant. Well they must send ALL their employees to a class on how to be selfish, greedy, uncaring, business people. They obviously are more concerned with getting their entire money than the actual care of their patients. Like I said before they got paid some money just not all they would like and quite honestly they are overpriced anyways and should reduce the bill to remain competitive within the industry. I don't like going somewhere and being told Okay so this is your deductible, this is how much your insurance is going to pay, and this is the amount you would owe us today. If I am told my insurance is going to pay a certain amount and then they don't well shame on you for not checking with insurance FIRST. You know stimulate the unemployment rate and hire people in there to verify with the insurance WHAT exactly they will and will NOT pay for on that day's services. They say its my resposability to know but what they fail to realize in their screwed up heads is that not everyone else is aware and knows the lingo of all that crud. Unless you are in that industry you would understand exactly but as a regular person that doesn't work for any type of insurance related field I don't understand the "codes" or the lingo they speak! It's a different language to me yet they "expect" you to understand it. Maybe that's why people just decide to allow their teeth to rot out instead of going to the dentist because of all the politics and crap that goes on. I am just as mad at my insurance company as I am Nanston but even more so at Nanston because of the way I was spoken to by members of their facility as well as the way I was treated even from the get go. They are after one thing and one thing only-money.

Oh and by the way to the girl I spoke to after Jeanine (the assistant) I am not so shallow or stupid to believe that you DO understand what I am going through because you just recently lost your father to cancer. You have NO clue what I am going through and further more if you did I am quite sure you would understand my position. Actions speak louder than words and you HAVE to say you understand-but you really don't. You may have "witnessed" someone dying from cancer but it's totally different when it is YOU. Think about this what if a medical facility called your father to collect payment (them knowing he is dying anyways and most likely NOT working) but they want to try and get the payment from him before he bites the dust. AND if he was unable to pay then they would stick a collection agency on him creating more stress for the family to deal with .....yes that is so very caring now isn't it? Creating more stress when it's already there. That's okay perhaps when I have my surgery I'll just croak on the table and then they will have NO Choice but to write the amount off and then I will have the last laugh-ha! No seriously it makes me even more ill at the fact that when it does come time to pay them with MY hard earned money I wish I could just smear s**t all over it and wish that Jeanine or that other girl would get it first-they deserve it they treated me like a peice of s**t so hey girls have a peice of s**t to match your personality of an a*****e-LMAO!
