N.A.S.E. and Mega health insurance have put together a scam of gigantic porportions. I was told I could only buy this worse than worthless insurance if I joined the N.A.S.E. And that as a group member this policy was of better value than a individual could get. This is just two of the many LIES told to me. After I joined I heard radio ads from Mega marketing there crappy insuranct to the general public with no need to join the N.A.S.E. I would never have joined the N.A.S.E. otherwise. As I am sure is the case of the vast majority of its members. I was not told that this insurance dose not have E.R. coverage. As I am very healthy I would have never bought a policy without this vital coverage. I was told that this policy paid 80% of charges after my $3,000.00 deductable. Trouble is as I am so healthy I had no Idea there limits were so unrealisticly low. IE 80% of room and board up to $200.00. per day. Cost are more like $2,000.00 per day. When I presented my "major hospitalization insurance" card to a local hospital they said it was junk and refused to admit me for needed surgery. What about implied servicability for which I paid.

When I went to a hospial that did treat me they charged me $10,000.00 for 45min. in the surgery suite. Of this Mega paid less that $1,700.00, with "discounts" hospital said my share was $6,600.00. They also told me that if I had no insurance they would consider me a cash patient and my share would be closer to $2,500-$2,800.00. So this is why I call it worse than useless. I cannot understand how this is legal. When I did a google search "insurance misrepesentation" low and behold top of the page was Mega. With 87 rip off reports I think I see a trend. Perhaps we could form a group and pool of funds and hire a class action lawyer.

Sounds like they did what they were obligated to do. Read and understand your policy. If you shop for price only then you get what you pay for. As far as the 87 online complaints i see a lot of cases like yours where the company did what it was suppose to and your complaining cause you did not read your policy or disgruntled employees file complaints and what company does not have those. I think it is time to admit you got what you paid for and you should visit increasing your coverage through paying a little more.

You actually had the option to purchase Emergency room coverage. You also had the choice of a lower deductible and didn't take it.

You say you were charged $10,000? You say you had a $3,000 deductible and 20% Co-Insurance correct? Well, lets see..........

$10,000 bill
($3,000) Deductible

=$7,000 (with me so far?)

20% of $10,000 would be an additional $2,000 bringing your total out of pocket expense to a minimum of $5,000. You say your were actually billed about $6,000. My guess that you exceeded some of the caps of coverage.

Truth is, everyone that ever has a major medical emergency will likely receive a bill from the insurance company, no matter who the coverage is with..... My guess is that you picked a monthly payment that was acceptable and didn't give it another thought.

IS THAT REALLY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES FAULT?
