There is a reason why there are so many complaints against National Agents Alliance (NAA). Reputable companies don't have a lot of complaints at this website so that should give you a clue about NAA.

I do not have an axe to grind with NAA. In fact, I worked for them about 3 years ago as an agent. My reason for filing this complaint is to alert the publice and, hopefully, educate and warn others not to join NAA.

As stated, I was an agent with them in Myrtle Beach, S.C. about 3 years ago. A fellow named Adam from Wilmington, N.C. was our upline head. There are several things about NAA that bothered me.

First, it struck me as a cult. I recall going to Burlington, N.C. to sit in the audience of a live telecast featuring Andy Albright. I found it disturbing that the audience treated him like a god and that everything he said as a devine revelation.

Second, as an agent, you were encouraged to buy books from the company that Andy recommeneded. And, of course, you were highly recommended (pressured) to read his revelatory books. It just seemed so much like a cult.

Then, there were the leads. You coudln't make money unless you did appointments and this required leads which you had to buy. Often times, the leads were old and outdated and totally useless.

I recall having bought leads leading up to Christmas and was stuck with a lot of outdated leads. I didn't have enough money to buy my kids gifts for Christmas. I asked for a refund on the leads and was told by the corporate office in Burlington that I had to get permission from my upline. Well . . . my upline all voted "no" to my refund request. I'll never forget it. I never did get my money back for the useless leads.

You were expected to pay for everything. Even, after a certain point, NAA expected you to pay for the training. They don't give you a draw as other insurance agencies do, they pay the lowest commissions and will have you draining your bank account viz a viz buying the recommended books, paying for leads, gas, food and other travel related expenses. Plus, with their long meetings, it is a real drain on your time.

I remember bumping into an old friend of mine in Wilmington, N.C. while I was in NAA. He laughed when I told him that I was with NAA. He told me he and his wife used to be with NAA, sold some policies but got out later for the same reasons I'm stating here. He said that everyone he knew that started with him was no longer with NAA. Now, he and his wife have very successful businesses not in the insurance field.

The reality is that NAA appeals to your greed to suck you into thinking you're going to make a lot of money but the only one getting rich is Andy Albright from the sale of leads and books. I no longer am involved in selling insurance but, if insurance is something you want to do, go seek out another agency. There are far better insurance agencies out there with better commissions and lower out of pocket expenses than NAA. Plus, they operate like a business and not a cult. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with NAA

AUTHOR: knick_brave - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 06, 2016

I am a new agent with NAA, new to insurance sales. I with the complaintant that Andy Albright is worshipped in NAA, however, Andy's role in the company is to serve as an inspirational speaker. He does not teach, not because he doens't know, but because he has a role in the company, as do others, and any good and successful company has a structure. Yes, Andy has written a couple of books, and yes we are encouraged to purchase them. They aren't expensive. I have not purchased them and no one harps on getting me to do so. Other books are recommended, yes. It's normal to recommend books which will help with your positive thinking. I have a real estate license and every single coaching program recommends pretty much the same books that NAA does.

NAA's leads come from a company they created which monitors public information from all counties. It picks up on when a baby is born or there is an adoption, marriage or a home is purchased. These are the leads NAA charges ten and fifteen cents each for. it costs the company money to mine these leads and send out the mailers. Why would anyone expect to get the leads for free? But, no one forces us to buy these leads. There are other places to get leads and we are free to get leads from wherever we choose to.

We don't have to go to the meetings, but statistically, agents who do, do better. You become like who you hang around with, it's that simple.

In real estate, I had to pay for every bit of extra learning and coaching I got. That is not the case with NAA. For absolutely free, NAA teaches us how to call and set appointments, meet with people, and keep track of our numbers so we know the exact measure of our success on all levels. We are provided with free videos, audio recordings, free power points, and free mentoring and coaching. If we aren't getting the success we want, for instance, if our calls aren't resulting in the number of appointments we want them to, our coach will help us improve to the point we want to be at.

As for the way NAA recruits, their system is a lot like that of Keller Williams. In real estate, every broker gives agents rewards for recruiting new agents into the office. Keller Williams asked agents how they wanted it done. Their system is almost exactly like that of NAA. It is not unethical or immoral. It is a system in which everyone, and I do mean everyone, wins.

Am I greedy because I want to live a life without lack? Does hating waking up to an alarm clock, fighting traffic, being pressuered not to be a minute late in spite of bad weather, traffic jams, construction and a hundred other things that can go wrong every morning, all make me greedy? Does the desire to vacation every year to someplace other than the local lakeside campgrounds make me greedy? Am I greedy because I want to drive a car that doesn't break down, and that I can afford to put tires on when I need to? Is every business owner greedy because he or she had a vision and worked his or her fanny off to see it come true?

NAA isn't for everybody, but if you join NAA and you fail, you have no one to blame but yourself. In anything in life, if you're not going good at it, don't quit. Improve. If you must quit, don't try to ruin it for those who choose not to quit. To each his own, and good luck to all.
