this is a talent and modeling agency based out of duluth ga.

they travel to many malls and do these talent show contests. the winners of the contests get a 1 year contract with the company. the only way for you to be acepted into the agency is by winning a 1 yr contract. you sign a paper and put your name into a box and then they call you when you can compete for the 1st round.

you'll go against maybe 40-50 people? you have to sit down and watch this video and hear the talent "scouts" talk about how their past people have been on the opera show, how mtv has came to them personally with challenges to make a super model out of regular people, and traveled around the world and been in all kinds of movies {the movie roles they say is really just "extras" which the screen actors guild will give you info on for free and just about anyone can make it as a extra and being a extra pays meaning you do not need a agency for this at all}.

they do not tell you that the people they got into movies is really "extras" or how easy being a extra really is without their help. well then you get into where you compete. you get to pick a line from their booklet and do a "screen test" and say your line in front of the people. then you do a "run way test" in front of people...then the 3 scouts judge you.

during this whole time before this you are NEVER told about any fees or charges. they will pick around 15 people out of the 40-50 {sometimes there is more than 50}. these people are took to a room and told about how great they did and how great of a chance they now have at breaking into this business. then they bring out cash registers!!

you have to pay for what is called "sponsor tickets" you have to sell 3 sponsor tickets for about 35 dollars each. 1 ticket pays for a head shot {that they do and they tell you whats so great about this is you yes you actually get to keep the photos}.

then you have to have the ticket for you screen test {and they tell you what is great about this is you yes you get to keep you screen test dvd}. then you have to pay for the "model productions" t-shirt, entry number badge, and entry into the 2nd round. people from ages 6months to 50 years old compete in this. and there is ALOT and i do mean ALOT of people who is being exposed to this company.

just about anyone who has been to the mall in the last 2 years have seen this companies "runway stage" set up in your local mall. each day they will have about 3-8 1st round {40-50 people in each one} contests at each mall they are at {they do more than one mall at once}. last year they have started going to malls in other states. florida, georgia, tennesse, alabama, new york, etc.

i'm not sure exactly how much they are making off this idea of theirs but it has to be a pretty good amount!
when i was accepted to round 2. pretty much every single person that was accepted had pulled out their wallets and started handing over their money. i felt like a loner because i was the only one who was not pulling out my wallet.

i ended up shelling out 35 dollars {which i thought they had lowered the price for me since i did not have a job to pay. ends up after i came back and paid my 35 dollars that only thing i got was a entry ticket {entry ticket just gets you in the door but does not let you compete} a t-shirt with their name and a contestant badge.

i was then told i still had to come up with 70 more dollars. and they kept telling me how if i did not pay i would be letting a once in a lifetime chance pass me by.

I gave them a try too....but

AUTHOR: gnew - (United States of America)

I did let my two girls try and even paid for the pictures.  I figured worse case they had some overpriced photos I could use. First both my girls got nervous but then I got hit with the photo-genetic contract.  e photos ARE NOT printed they are on a website to download.  It took weeks to get the photos due to a glitch and lack of returned phone calls and emails.

The photos were ok, they do seem to print fine as well.

Now we have the contract and again a request for more money to have cards printed.  It says we can do them at home if they match.  I can do this because I have done marketing material for years. however they will not provide their logo to you.  Instead they want you to recreate it.  So I am done.  Company have logo rules and gladly provide them to any one reproducing their logo.

First off, I am one of the Models that got selected and to let you know i did not have to pay a dime when the offered me my contract. It was a one year newface modeling contract, completly free. They take 20% agency commission when ever they book me on work, And so far i've been with them for five months and i've booked four jobs. I am so sick of hearing new models who just because they didn't get selected go on this sight and able to write lies about any body they want to, If you search other top agencies like IMG Models-Tyra Banks agency, Elite Models-Cindy Crawfords old agency even they have reports on this website of stupid bitter models who don't get signed with them. Even if i didn't get selected through the scouting event the experiance alone plus portfolio they gave me to start off my career all for $150 is way less then i know you paid at that modeling school your talking about, If you new anything about this industy even Tyra banks herself says that your responsible to get your own portfolio taken and that normally can be between $300-$500( MP photogragher are $150) and then your agency represents you for free, and thats exactly what MP does. They are out there to open the door for new models and lift you up when no body else does. Its people like you who think that an agent is just suppose to find you and make you a star over night and thats not how this business works at all, Just like any business you start off at the bottom and work your way up. I've been doing this for almost five years now and Model Productions is THE BEST and cheapest way for new models to get into the industry.

The Best Agency that I've ever worked with!!

AUTHOR: Satisfied - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 10, 2008

Model Productions is an amazing "family based" company who does nothing more than try to give anyone who has the DRIVE to make it in the industry, an opportunity and the tools to do so!! And just like anything, there is a small investment that is required. That small $150.00 investment that is needed covers the expense of a professional portfolio!

Other than that the whole experience and contract they offer at the end of it all, if you are selected, IS FREE. for one year!!! I have been to two other agencies in the past year and no one can come close to what Model Productions is offering, and I'm just talking about the all around experience and professionalism that they offer....the photo shoot and portfolio that you receive is just an added bonus if you ask me!!

Since i've completed my portfolio and won a contract i've since been in three movies, one in which i had a short speaking role, and a commercial. All of that has come through Model Productions!!! So anyone who has anything negative to say about how Model Productions operates they probably think that everything in life should should be handed to them on a silver platter and will never make anything of themselves!!!!

this agency is great!

Model Productions is a great agency! Just like you, I tried out inside of my mall. i passed the 1st round, and paid $50.00. well i studied hard and practiced my talent for the talent part. i passed. maybe the only reason your failing things like this is because you failed there photo shoot and talent and runway test!
sure it costs money, but what doesn't these days? if you want something bad enough then you shouldn't judge them because you didn't meet up to there expections. I'm a model with them and i haven't been happier. you need to let grudge's go.... i made it and I'm only 15!

..........let it go.........

Same thing but more money!!!

AUTHOR: Cara - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 15, 2008

The same thing happened to me. I only shelled out the first $50. Then I went online researching and seen some stories how they are a ripoff. They too, were in the local malls here. I have called a few times for my money back and no one returns my call. I didn't receive any services from them. I also attest they do not mention any fees associated until they pick you as a potential model or extra that you have potential. They even had my paper mixed up with the childrens group. I am 34. At first I didnt hear them call my name so I said oh well no biggie. Then al of a sudden a staff lady came over and said there you are! You were picked, I said oh I didnt hear my name, then she told me I was mixed in with the childrens, but she said no no girl your great we picked you. False sense of acceptance, false sense of career opurtunities, and false advertisement, nothing stated about money when they call you to show up for the catwalk in the mall!

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Warning

AUTHOR: Tabby - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 11, 2008

I searched for a while trying to find information on Model Productions. I want to put this information our on the open for those also searching.

They do help you to get work, to an extent, they list them on their site. Everything else is your responsibility.
You will pay 20% of what you make to them.
They want you to pay $150 to start to get a shirt and a portfolio. Your portfolio will consist of photos taken buy someone who has professional equipment, but takes photos you could or even your child could have taken themselves. You get a plastic folder to keep them in with their name on it. Your pictures are printed on a basic sheet of paper and only in black and white. In other words, take these pictures yourself, print them and put them in a folder. Its the same thing. We paid the $150 and are disappointed in the photos.

We are going through the contract and I am questioning it, because you have to pay for your own headshots, and your own compcards. These things are at the least $1 a piece with a minimum order of 55 on some sites. They want you to send them 21 comp cards and well as 12 headshots. Be prepared to pay a lot of money for that! Be prepared for some disappointment.

Search craigslist and newspapers for local and nearby casting calls...you might have a little more luck.

Go to OneModelPlace.com they'll let you put up 5 pictures of your own. Try your best to get professionally taken, however NOT TOUCHED UP pictures on there. I had a profile there myself for about 2 years and did many many modeling jobs freelance. I have since quit due to weight gain with my daughter and they don't cast many babies on onemodelplace, however if you are at least 18 it is the perfect site for you. You aren't required to pay.

If you want to break into the modeling world you need a portfolio, you don't have to pay for it if you can find amateur photographers to do TFCD's adn TFP (trade for) to build their and your portfolio at the same time. REMEMBER to get a release from the photographer to use the photos however you want.

Good luck breaking in our there.

and again, if you want and have the money go to model productions, otherwise its really better to go elsewhere..I wish I had.

DISAGREE!!!

AUTHOR: Ashbeddow88 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 31, 2008

They are not a "talent agency" they are for booking. They aren't even CALLED a talent agency.. they help you get in the door when others turn you away. For children that cant afford THOUSANDS of dollars for modeling agencies. You pay a small amount instead of thousands for a portfolio and also you get a web address to all the auditions that you would like to participate in. They wont do ALL the work for you and thats why others are mad. They think its a simple and easy process. They are legitimate and you do have to put in some time, some effort, some work. But for those that do, they are successful!

that is illegal

AUTHOR: Joseph - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 05, 2008

That is exactly right...it is illegal for a talent agency to have you pay for anything for a talent contract.

You just confirmed how this agency is working.

Please call your local news station ASAP!!!

The news media here and several other agencies are very aware of this company....please call your local news media ASAP and tell them.

I have to disagree....

AUTHOR: Florida - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 05, 2008

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the information in this report. My husband recently put my name in "the box" to be called to compete in the Model Search at our local mall. I talked to a woman on the phone who explained the process to me.

My daughter and I both "competed" in the preliminary competition. We were not asked for any money to compete. We were both chosen to be in the finals in a few weeks. The only cost to us is the cost of having our portfolios done. At the end of the competion, we will get all 12 8x10 photos (a full portfolio), plus the color CD containing our photos, plus we will own the copyrights to our photos. The cost of a portfolio can be outrageous, but the cost through Model Productions is only $150.00.....for a full portfolio and all the rights to reproduce them, that's not bad! We did get to pick our FREE t-shirt that we will wear in the finals. Again, the ONLY cost is the cost of FULL portfolio, which is awesome.
I think that this is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has modeling potential, or other talents that they would like to persue.
