This is a well known, long running scam

This scam has been around for many, many years under various names. The retail store names are unimportant because they have nothing to do with the scam. All the scammer wants from you is your money. Go to the FTC website and read all about consumer financial scams so you don't fall for it again under some other name. You will need to pay your bank because they are the one's that were ripped off if you didn't have enough funds in your account to cover the bad check that was provided to you by the scammer. Unless you can trace the funds you sent and the person that sent you the bad check, it is unlikely you will be able to recover damages from the scammer. It is worth checking into. Make sure you file a police report and pay back your bank or this action will follow you for years. Good luck.
