My nephew, who recently graduated from high school in Jacksonville, FL has had no luck in finding a job.  He called me today, very excited about this new job that will take him travelling all over the US, and that he must leave tomorrow on a Greyhound bus.  So, I was excited for him.  However, when he told me he would be selling children's bibles and other publications door-to-door, I immediately became suspicious.

As a concerned aunt, I questioned him about his new employer, only to uncover a scam.  For starters, they would not provide him with the legal name and location of the company he would be working for, instead they gave him the website nationwidetravelling.com.  He was told they've been in business for 10 years and that he will not find one negative thing about the company online.  When you do a whois lookup to determine the owner of the site, you won't be able to figure this out and the website also has no contact information.  You can't find much about this 10 year old company by googling them, but there is a 2007 Tomah Journal article indicating "If you have contact with any of those companies or subjects, contact the Tomah Police Department".

If it was not for the previous person's ripoff report post, I would not have figured out to google door-to-door magazine sales and see page after page about this type of scam.  This "job" is currently being posted in High Times Magazine.  The man who spoke with my nephew told him that he actually doesn't work for the company, but rather places people at the company.  All I know, is if my nephew hadn't called me with his "good news", he would be off on a bus somewhere involved with some very shady dealings.
