Reported an outstanding med. bill on my credit report. I have no outstanding bills from any of my doctors. I received no prior notice about an outstanding bill.

Found out about the collection when getting a car loan. Ended up having to get an high-interest rate loan as a result of this collection.

Furthermore, my credit rating history has typically been good to excellent. My rating is currently poor to good as a result of this unbeknownst collection.

This company has made no attempt via phone or mail to notify me or to elaborate on which medical visit prompted a balance. I have excellent health coverage and I'm certain that my ins. company would have covered an expense of $544.

Given the negative responses about this mystery collection agency, I'm sure that I'm going to have a battle to dispute this collection - that is, if I can even contact this company and get specific info.

Wish me luck.

It usually does no good at all to talk with them.

You should read the FCRA and the FDCPA and then send them a certified, return requested letter to DISPUTE and demand validation of this alleged debt.

Read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.htm.

If you're interested in obtaining free credit reports or correcting your credit report, read the Fair Credit Reporting Act at ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcradoc.pdf

You can obtain your free annual credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com

It's too late now, but in the future if something unexpected pops up on your credit report when you're APPLYING for credit, you should NOT proceed with the credit application until you convince yourself that the credit report is accurate. You should have declined the auto deal until your credit reports were corrected so that you could have obtained the loan at a better interest rate.

Good luck in the future.
