Recently my son took his 2009 MacBook in for diagnostics..

1. NFM DID NOTHING, 1st, they sat on the thing for two weeks, they claimed to have run diagnostics indicated the battery needed replaced, and they did not have access to the battery in question for the mac, because their extended service plan is an "insurance plan" and not true repair/replacement service. They gave me the Mac Book back and informed me I needed to contact insurance, and get the battery through an Apple Authorized service center. (Funny I thought if you sold Apple, you'd have that ability to service them?)
NFM didn't provide a part number, only suggested I drive 1/2 hour to an authorized apple store. I tried calling the "Apple Store" and got thrown into a friggin' call center, rather than the store to see if they even had a battery for it.

2. I have a friend who works for the school system who is Apple authorized and trained technician, he performed diagnostics and indicated the battery did not need replaced.. He also found NFM missed the fact there was a recall on the bottom cover due to warping. He was able to order the replacement part for me and do the service.

Word to the wise, and not so wise. If you buy an Apple product from Nebraska Furniture Mart and want extended service, DO NOT buy the NFM ESP. Buy Apple Care. That way you can take it to an Apple Store. NFM Total Care is a waste of store space.

I appreciate the note, however, the fact is the ESP for the MAC is not an acceptable solution. we paid 4 years on a plan we are two years in. We did get a check and have fixed the battery, But I felt that Total  Care dropped the ball and did not call me when they figured.. Instead the call was 2 week after they had the system. The Mac Sales teams needs training as well. They SHOULD NOT recommend ESP, over Apple Care. They should ONLY offer Apple Care. 

My daughter owns both an Air and an IPad, and my son owns the Macbook, I would like to get Apple Care, so I can go directly to Apple than deal with NFM Total Care.

As the cost of ESP was added to our sale we are still paying that balance, I don't believe I have a recourse at this point except to deal with it.

I am lucky to work where I have an Apple Technician on staff. Other people probably do not have that luxury. Systemically NFM needs to take Apple products off the ESP allowable products, and ONLY sell Apple Care.
