My husband attended New Horizons where he was given a slick presentation. Everything ended up being untrue. Instructors literally read from books. Class was dismissed early. There was no hands on training or internships with the "fortune 500" companies. The "career/guidance" person (really just a sales person) gave no help and it could take days sometimes weeks to get a real response. My husband took and passed a few of the classes out of the 18K that he signed up for. As soon as he realized it wasn't what he was told upon signing he complained and got nowhere. There was also no recruiters which in the advertising were supposed to be "on-site."

My husband disputed the loan. This is where it gets neat. New Horizons has this funny little catch. Once you take 10% or one class there is "no refund." Doesn't matter the poor quality, the lack of jobs, the lack of internships/ hands on training etc. (as was promised verbally and in the classifieds) NO refund. Of course they set up a student loan that my husband signed for but which went directly to the school. He never filled out a loan application, talked to the bank, (his nice "career/guidance" counselor approached him in the hall between breaks of class and had him sign the last page of the loan") The money was given in full to New Horizons...to disburse as they saw fit. They refused to refund any of it. Even when my husband told them he was completely dissatisfied and wouldn't take any further courses. New Horizons sits fat and happy.

The bank ended up suing (and winning a judgement) against us. The banks' lawyer apologized said hated doing this to "nice people like us and that he felt we were indeed victimized." Bottom line we had a lot of stress. No job. Meaningless certifications through New Horizons. We took the hit, the stress not them.

We contacted lawyers but were told it was too complicated and we were better off to settle with the bank. By the way the bank no longer does business with New Horizons. CGS (the "supposed" recruiters) no longer does business with New Horizons. The banks contract is with you NOT the school. They can't sue New Horizons. I complained to everyone I could think of with no result.

I would enroll in a community college and get a decent course or better yet buy the books and read them to yourself and pay to take the exams. This school sits on our money while my husband had to struggle to recover lost time and a hit on his credit not to mention the stress of a lawsuit...all while trying to support his family. He is the sole bread winner.

Don't make the same mistake. I wish I found this website or Newhorizons sucks.net before signing up!!

RUN RUN RUN!! Any company that will not refund ANYTHING after the first class is ...probably not a good bet.
