My daughter has been playing the Maple Story game now for nearly two years. Last weekend, someone accessed her account (hacked) and deleted two characters, one of which had a high ranking 121 (50%) [whatever that means] with a lot acculmulated extras. Her account still has a lot of cash items (double XP cash card for 1 month + other extras) I have lodged a request through their customer service to have the characters restored along with the items that these characters had acquired, and found that the "ticket item" had been ignored and closed without a response. They were given my private email address and telephone number to call for verification or clarification of the complaint.

What galls me, is that my daughter has spent a lot of money purchasing NX Cash items over this period of time, and spent enormous amount of time playing the game and developing & training her character/s. She absolutely distraught at the events that have occured, and most distressed when it was discovered that Nexon had ignored the ticket and just closed it out of hand.

To me, the $dollar is more inportant to them than customer service. The manner in which they indiscriminately bann players would suggest to me that they scam players and when they get to a high level, and give them NO right of redress. This is further supported by the fact they have ignored the ticket that was written to them. To treat a 13 year old girl in this fashion is reprehensible.

My warning is that do not get sucked in by this company, they will take your money and use and burn you, with no respect for your children's feelings.

My challenge to Nexon is, Respond to the ticket item that was lodged and show some coporate responsibility and heart. Not all players of your games are scammers & nitwits. There are genuine people (kids) that are being disadvantaged by the unscrupoulous actions of this company.

Or better still, why not have a staff member of this company telephone me and resolve this issue, however, we know the answer to that, the all mighty dollar is more important to them than seeing fair play.

I am just wondering if you are on Nexon's payroll?? You have missed the point completely, or you have not been subjected to the "attack" experienced by my daughter. Unfortunately, innocent people get hurt in this world and are victims of other peoples greed, vindictiveness. I have now explained this to my daughter and have convinced her that the Maple Story game is just a waste of time and money and is of NO benefit to her, and the only prople to profit from it are Nexon, at her expense. It is obvious, that we are wasting our time, so I will not bother anymore. I can use the time more productively elsewhere.

I have submitted one ticket since I started playing Maplestory and it was responded to two days later. However there are many cases where tickets are not responded to promptly or ignored completely. However Krankykitten, I believe your request is unreasonable for several reasons. Mainly because I don't believe you understand much about the game and perhaps computers.

In your main post you indicated that the account was hacked and two of the characters were deleted. To expect deleted material back is unreasonable no matter who deleted it for whatever reason.

Any sort of backup system would merely copy all the data two a new location replacing the old backup. So any backup for a deleted characters existence would shortly be lost. You then mentioned that Nexon America's banning of players is some sort of scam. Where is the logic in that? First off once Nexon receives there money for the NX items, they are rewarded to the player at no loss to the company. So banning the players as some sort of scam can only hurt there business from that player.

I don't know if NX items on a specific character would be deleted with the character or if they would remain on the account. But even if they were deleted with the character most NX items are only good for 90 days. Thus asking for ALL money spent on the game in return is like asking for a refund on an empty jug of milk. Not to mention that it clearly states while purchasing NX that it is nonrefundable. (yeah it sucks but its part of the agreement)

I find it hard to believe the account was truly hacked (by definition). The account security required to log is more than any online game I've ever played. Its annoying actually. You ether got software on your computer designed to acquire her log in information or your daughter gave her information away (ether to another player in the game or a 3rd party webpage). So you shouldn't attack there account security ether.

Sure the items that have been "stolen" can eventually be secured again over a short period of time, however the time taken for a character to reach the level 121 (50%), I am told, is a completely different matter, which took her around twelve months plus to achieve. The character should be protected and that the security implemented on Maple story is inadequate, particulary where cash money is involved.

My daughter now tells me that another player has now secured the name of her original character. This player who has created the new character with the same name is now boasting that he was able to secure the name because my daughter's account was hacked and her character deleted.This of course has upset my daughter immensley.

The money that was spent, was for purchasing cash shop items which assisted with the increasing of the character's level (and appearence). My request to Nexon America, is to return/restore character with the Level intact, or refund all monies that my daughter has spent on the game!

Anything less than this is Corporate bullying by a cashed up Corporation against a 14 year old child and along with other genuine cases of where accounts have been hacked and characters deleted (along with their respective items)

Lord Poo, I have noted your comments. The events of what have occurred go way past the "rules of engagement" and the answers provided in their FAQ's. It requires the intervention and some common sense from someone within Nexon America. Yes of course for a business to survive it needs to make money and a profit....... to say they can not prove what an account holder used to hold I find incongrouous given back up systems that should be in place. They only have to look at the account to see how much money has been spent purchasing NX currency to ascertain if this is a genuine complaint and not as you have eloquently put it "a scam".

However, if that is Nexon America's corporate position in relation to how they handle a genuine case of Account thievery and Hacking, then as far as I am concerned, I will not permit my daughter (or other family members) to continue to purchase anymore NX items and do my bit to advertise the uncaring and corporate thuggery tactics engaged by Nexon America in how they handle these issues, particulary when substantial amounts of money are involved.

Although I dislike Nexon as well, I really hate it when people don't read the information before complaining about something. I'm sorry that your daughter's account was hacked, but next stated in their FAQ on the MapleGlobal website that:

We are very sympathetic to users who have lost their hard earned items to hackers and account thiefs. However, we cannot return lost items to you. We would like to but there is no way to verify if items were indeed lost or if we are the target of a scam. Therefore, we must adopt this policy for most cases. Please read our FAQ on how to protect your account and be very mindful to protect your ID and password and to play in safe gaming environments.

Nexon is very busy when it comes to tickets because they get thousands of tickets a day. The most probable reason why your issue was not addressed was because it was already stated in the FAQ that Nexon can't give back any characters or items. Also -- How long did you wait for a reply? I also submitted a ticket a few days ago, and it was responded to in six days.

If you want to find where exactly Nexon put the above quote in their website...

1. Go to maplestory.nexon.net
2. Under "Support" Click "FAQ."
3. Go to User Abuse/Hacking/Suspended Accounts.
4. Find: "I was hacked. Give me back all my things!"

And of course Nexon cares about money, they can't pay their employees without money and if they don't do that then MapleStory will either be shut down or it will become a Pay to Play game. I hope this helps.
