My business was approached in February of 2004 by two salesmen with a well-scripted sales pitch. Looking back on it now it was so obvious especially reading all of the other complaints from consumers that got burnt by NorVergence. But at the time it sounded like a unique and helpful system.

Our NorVergence Plan was to be a 29 month plan that included:
4 desk top phones
T1 Internet Service
(3) 800 numbers
6 cell phones
and the promise of only paying one (1) flat bill a month

Since we were still with our original phone and internet service companies NorVergence promised in their sales pitch that those bills and contracts would be obsolete. Our only bill to pay would be from NorVergence for a total of $512.52 a month.

Not to mention: they promised that if our old companies continued to bill us that we should send to bills to NorVergence as they would pay them for us. In addition, to their other false lies they promised to pay for the cost of our office supplies expenses such as business cards and stationary. Needless to say none of this ever came to fruition. Here is a timeline of events that occurred throughout our lease:

February 27, 2004 - Signed the credit application

March - Received a letter stating that I would have a telephone interview with the Senior Vice President of our area in Florida

March 5 - Received a notification of receipt of unlimited calling circuit application

April - Signed a letter of authorization to allow them to negotiate our phone services

April - Signed an equipment rental agreement

April - Signed the lease with NorVergence for 29-month service plan

April 7 - Signed for delivery and acceptance certificate of equipment

April 9 - I was informed that Preferred Capital would be taking over my lease

May - NorVergence employees returned to hook up phone equipment

June - First lease payment

May - near the end of the month the service and internet was finally connected. However, we did not yet receive our cell phones.

June 16 - Phone and Internet Service went dead. We were told the entire East coast was out of service due to a virus.

June 22 - I got in touch with the service man who originally hooked up our phone system

June 23 - the service man came to our business and was able to correct the problem and discover that there was NO actual virus

July - Received notice that NorVergence was filing for bankruptcy

July - Our system was never fully completed, we continued paying excessively high phone and internet bills for both NorVergence and our original service companies, all while having absolutely no service.

Throughout, this entire long, unorganized ordeal we never did receive our cell phones, or be compensated for our additional bills from our original phone companies as promised by NorVergence. All in all, it is a hard thing to swallow.

Looking back on all that has happened and reading others compliants against NorVergence makes me realize that they have been clearly planning a shady scam for a while now. Of all the customers that have been scammed it seemed like many were approached in the same month of February almost as though NorVergence wanted to hit everyone at once while they still could.

Here are some observations that I felt would be important to note for those who has been scammed by NorVergence. Please read this: you may realize things that have happened to you that you didn't first notice.

For instance, it appears as though NorVergence had been double-dipping their customers by selling the equipment to two (or more) different companies, thus creating double bills.

Also, many of you may want to take a close look at your bank accounts to make sure that money has not been electronically deducted, as this has also happened to many customers.

In addition, many are being forced to continue paying for their lease when it is non-existent.' The matrix box and other frivolous equipment are completely void without the entire system. If you don't get any service, why should you pay for nothing? My concern though is that this will probably affect customers credit. It's not fair and this is why everyone has to get involved to seek justice.

This is the most low-life, dirty, crooked company that ever was created. Remember that the more people who speak out against what NorVergence has done, the more that can be accomplished to bring justice to all. So please contact the Better Business Breau, and the Federal Trade Commision, and the Attorney General of your specific state. These departments will not take notice unless everyone gets involved by telling their side of the story. Get write to them, call them, email them and let them know! Help get all these departments on the case of NorVergence to make a difference. The more people that contact all these departments will help us all in the end.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!
