I ordered clothing from Roaman's Catalog in 09/2002 and charged them to my Visa check card. At the end of the call, I was offered 2 "FREE" magazines that I could cancel prior to any billing was to start. I selected Reader's Digest and Time. I was told I would get a card in the mail notifing me. I never received anything!!
I did call 800 607-9458 for NSS, it is an automated service and you cannot get to a live person! I repeatedly tried to get someone.
The week before Christmas, I was charged $25.00 for Reader's Digest. My bank had a number that I actually got a live person, and I told her I didn't want either magazine and to cancel them ASAP. She assured me she would.
My bank credited me with the $25.00 on 12/26/02. On 12/30/02, my credit card was billed $39.00 for Time magazine. I called my bank's fraud department, and they are calling the company to dispute the charge. I also called 800 607-9458 and the automated system assured me that they would credit me $39.00 in 1 to 2 billing cycles. We'll see.
In the meantime, I'm calling Roaman's (same company as Lane Bryant) and advising them to stop doing business with NSS or they'll lose mine. NSS is just another rip off company!

SO PISSED

I want to make a complaint on NSS Magazine service. I looked on my bank statement and they had debited 20.00 from my bank statement. I had no idea how these people recieved my account number so I called the bank to recieve their phone number.
The bank didn't have a number to contact them so I came to your website and found the number off of numerous complaints on this company. When I called the number I got an automated recording and after sitting on the phone for 20 minutes talking to a virtual operator, I grew impatient and pressed "0". I finally got a real person on the phone and she tried to tell me I ordered a magazine that I had never even heard of through
Fredericks Hollywood Web site. I told her that I had never heard of the magazine and that I didn't
appreciate a web site giving my card info to other
businesses.
She said that she would credit the money back to my account and I would see it in one to two
billing cycles so I will keep the site updated. I am also going to contact my bank to make sure they do not take anything out of my account again.

Refund confirmation

I have had magazine charges from this company before, and have always been able to get a refund.
Today I got through the automated system to have a charge reversed and a magazine cancelled, and was given a confirmation number and a promise that my account would be credited withing 1-2 (hoped to hear "days") billing cycles....
Oh, well, at least the money's coming back! ($29.97)
I also called my credit union, and they are faxing me a dispute form. According to them, they will give me a "provisional credit" and re-request the billing info from NSS. They said that 99% of the time they never hear back from the company (NSS or others).
Hope that helps somebody! :-D
