Several non-life-threatening complaints occurred within the four months my son received care at this center. The term day care isnt appropriate for this center that provides a service that is carefree. As a concerned, involved and proactive parent it was more like a nightmare. The mission clearly states it provides a nurturing Christian environment all of which are completely false. On several occasions my son told me of inappropriate behaviors of other children and staff for the school. Some of the support staff and teachers (which are not licensed) are ignorant, rude, and dont have the ability to truly care for children in ways that are conducive for a learning environment. My child was bullied by another kid 4 or so years his senior at this location. This is in appropriate because they shouldnt be in the same areas. The directorial staffs are very sarcastic and have no problem with being dishonest. The student to teacher ratio is inappropriate according to state regulations. This center is overcrowded, under staffed, and incompetent. These providers have been notified on several occasions of my concerns and yet they were never fully addressed.  At this point I have removed my child and will take all action to remedy the issues that occurred in this place.

So Not True... Here's The TRUTH

AUTHOR: ChiD - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, July 19, 2012

This parent has posted this same untrue statement on many media outlets and I want to assure anyone that may read it that it is not a true or accurate portrayal of NDLA's educational centers or her personal situation. Out of concern for the child and respect for privacy I will not divulge the true reason for this parents departure.

I will, however, respond to the allegation of her child being "bullied" by another child. Her child was refusing to follow direction and running around a classroom. When the teacher attempted to address the child's behavior he decided to jump over another child that was seated on the floor. He failed to jump high enough resulting in him tripping on the other child and falling to the floor injuring himself.

In reponse to the allegation of the staff not being licensed... NLDA's staff is required to be licensed in pediatric first aid and CPR at all times. All teaching staff are also required to be educated. They must have a certain amount Early Childhood Education in a college accredited program and must continue their education every year to ensure they stay current in their field. They also require all staff members to go through a mandated reporter training program with DCFS to ensure they are aware of, and can recognize, the various forms of abuse some children may experience at home or in other aspects of their lives.

NDLA I & II have been licensed with DCFS for many years and have been accredited with NAEYC for over a year. Additionally, they have a quality rating of 3 out of 4 with Quality Counts and recently received the Eagle Award for excellence in our field. Please note that the Eagle Award is achieved through parent recommendations. I am sure all these various organizations can not be mistaken!

As an organization that cares NDLA has made it thier goal to provide the best possible environment for all students. They have instituted many programs and services to ensure each child has the support they need to reach their maximum potential. To name a few; PreSchool For All, Healthy Start through CACFP, annual state approved dental exams, annual Hearing & Vision Screenings, developmental screenings for all ages (ASQ, ITERS and ECERS through the Environmental Rating Scale for Early Childhood Development), therapy services if needed, Creative Curriculum for weekly lesson plans, daily activity reports for parents, monthly Parent Partnership meetings, quarterly Parent/Teacher conferences, teeth brushing after meals, etc... All these additional services come at no additional cost to the parents!

On a personal note - My children have been attending NDLA II for nearly three years and I would never describe my experience as anything other than great. My 6 year old son has learned to read and spell at a third grade level, complete math at a second grade level, tell time, count money, write in print and cursive, learned some Spanish and a little Sign Language as well as learned proper socialization skills and how to ride a bike! My 3 year old daughter is on track to do the same...

I highly recommend this oprganization to any parent!
