Well about 3 years ago we had made a downpayment on a mobile home from the Oakwood Mobile Homes Inc. My step-daddy is the one who was supposed to be paying the notes on the trailor, and I was supposed to be a co-signer because of my credit was better than his credit. Well the man who had sold us the trailor name was Johnny Thompson.

He had told us that the payment will stay the same, and that it will not go up. The payment was supposed to be $326 per month, but now we are paying $409 per month because of insurance. Johnny had told us in the beginning that we will not have to pay that much for this mobile home.

Oh yeah a few days after we had to sign some papers in Mobile, he had came by our home for me to sign some more papers. Well my step-daddy wasn't home to sign some more papers, but he said that he didn't have to sign any papers because only the co-signer had to. Well so I did.

It had taken them about 2 or 3 weeks for them to bring the trailor. Then when they had bought out the trailor, he said the payments had to be raised up to 20 more dollars for insurance. Well we said O.k. Then about a few weeks later we got the book saying that we have to pay $362 a month.

He told us that if we pay $362 for six months the payment will decrease. Well we had done that, but the payments didn't decrease. Then in the beginning of the next year the payments was raised up to $409 for some other insurance.

When the trailor was delivered to us, the trailor was a mess. There was a ragedy couch in the living room. There was junk all over the floor. There was a tore up dresser in the middle of the floor.

Then the most terrible, nasty thing I have ever seen was that both toilets was filthy. Inside the toilet was black and nasty. When we was in the kitchen, there was a rat coming from under the sink.

There was also roaches in the kitchen. There was nasty stuff all on the walls such as dirt, red stuff. The ceiling fan was working.

All the rooms in the mobile home was terrible. It was so disgusting when we looked all in the house. When we had looked at the mobile home in Mobile, they said when we get the trailor it will look brand new in the inside, but that was a lie.

The air conditioner was working, but the heater wasn't working, and they still didn't come to fix it. Some of the outlets was out, and they are still out. There is a hole in the bathroom's door in the master's bedroom.

Now we have got behind in the mobile home because it is hard for us to pay for this home without a job. My mother is trying her best, but she want to give up now because this mobile home is not worth $409 a month. My mother is going through a divorce, and she just can't handle this anymore.

Oh yeah, my step-daddy name is not on the payment booklet. It just say my name, but my name doesn't supposed to be on the booklet if I'm a co-signer. The only name on the booklet is my name.

Another thing is that I don't have a job to make payments. Johnny knew that in the beginning when he had sold us the mobile home. He did something under handed by saying that I am get social security, but I'm not. When he did that, we should have known better.

The folks from Oakwood Acceptance Corporation keeps calling us and harassing us to make the payments. This is not fair for what these people is doing to us and other customers. I hope something will come through for all of us.

We was so deseparate to get a mobile home to move out of that ragedy, infested snake house we was living in so we can get a mobile home. We are wishing and hoping that God will bless us with something to come along to help us. We are praying that God will let something happen for us not to move back into that ragedy house again.

I hope that someone will read this to help me and my family out. I hope there is a lawyer or someone to read this to help me and my family out, and other customers who is being ripped off. I hope and pray that all of us customers will get our money back soon or later.

I hope before it is too late before all the damage have been done.

Clayton & Oakwood Homes Suck!

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 11, 2006

I am writing this response to set the record straight once and for all. Clayton Homes Inc. aka as Oakwood Homes - Lies & Cheats consumers, giving consumers poorly built houses. The person talking about getting the mobile home above is certainly right about talking about the mess that is associated with getting an Oakwood Home.

Like them, I have purchased an oakwood home and like them, I am disgusted about the entire process. From start to finish. Lies, Lies and more lies. First, I was lied on the time of completion. Then Lied about this and that. The quality of the house is terrible. The inside of the home was certainly nasty!!! Finally, I was lied about the interest rate and payments. The papers I signed are different the my actual payment. The amount that was reported to the credit agency about the amounts of payments was also different. Otherwords, I have 3 seperate things which state different payments. I have spoken to one federal organization that has made it clear that Oakwood was obligated to give me a copy of the contract the day that I signed it, however, I was never given the contract for several weeks. This was wrong and I intend on setting the record straight even if it means posting signage along interstate 40 east/421 east for over 400 miles. I have a sign shop and am in the process of producing the signs. I am also putting up the site, www.OakwoodHomesSuck.com which will allow people to see pictures of their shody workmanship.

I spoke with David Booth - President of CMH inc. regarding what I have been through but as most people who deal with Oakwood homes knows. Oakwood is hell bent on lies which leaves me little choice but to make DA* sure that no one ever has to go through this again. I will do everything in my power to bring National Attention to their modus operandi.

If anyone has pictures to add to the website, OakwoodHomesSuck.com email them to me at appboone@yahoo.com - I will post them along with my images. I can assure everyone reading this post that the website that's going up will be found in all the major search engines on the first page when searching for anything dealing with Clayton, Oakwood and so fourth.

Single Mom

AUTHOR: Rubi - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 13, 2005

I am a single mother of one and was told I could always trade my home in for a larger one with no problems. I was lied to.

No one told me I could get insurance for 1/4 of what Oakwood was charging me. No one told me it was like buying a car. I did not know the home would depreciate year after year.

Needless to say, educate yourself before buying! Don't trust anyone! Do your homework! The salesman is out to help himself and his family, not yours!

Good Luck

Todd is a fake, typical Oakwood Homes rudeness

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

This so called carpenter odviously has the same disease that our president has failure to recognize a problem. Your not going to win an argument with this man because his mouth matches his ego. This is typical Oakwood Homes rudeness and apparently it is even contagious to their hick carpenters.

Not a very nice person, must be a salesman of oakwood

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 23, 2004

Hey Boz

I bought an Oakwood trailer. I'm not trailer trash. I am a single mother just trying to provide for my children. Oakwood sold me a money pit straight off the lot. And just because this person may not have the best vocabulary doesn't mean she is trailer trash either.

When people are down and out they look for the first thing that will give them a good start in life. Oakwood takes advantage of these people. Since you know so much about these trailers please come and fix my wet walls, flooring, cabinets, roof, doors, moldings, and I can go on but I'm not. If you believe what you told her then I would hate to be you when life gives back what you put out.

My Goodness!!

AUTHOR: Boz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 07, 2003

Ha ha, Texino (that is me) smells a rat and it is not the one in this mobile home.
Number one situation is people do not write in the same manner they speak.

Number two situation is, every person in Alabama is required by law to know the correct spelling of Trailer.
I do not see how a person can write a big word such as Rebuttal but not be able to spell normal small words.

Here is some other news. A trailer is not a home per se, so the financing is more like that of a car. This is one reason why lots of stupid poor people live in them. As you must know, almost anyone can get some sort of car.

It also sounds as if this MH was in pretty normal shape, used trailer-wise.

But Texino (that is me) still has to judge in favor of Andrea of Putnam. Despite the weird syntax thing, she is most likely a human. I am equally certain that the employees who made this sale of the century are from some place else.

about the rebuttal comments, ..how good something look on the outside doesn't look good on the inside.

AUTHOR: Andrea - (U.S.A.)

The place where I got the trailor from, and the corporation are both low down. I would like to tell the person who made the rebuttal that how good something look on the outside doesn't look good on the inside. Anyway I have proof. When we had first got the trailor I had taken pictures of the inside, and had sent the pictures to a lawyer. They are to blame for giving credit to someone who could not pay the bill because I did not have a job. I'm not the one who was supposed to pay the bill because for one thing the payment book supposed to have someone else name on it. I was supposed to be the co-signer anyway. My step daddy name is supposed to be on the payment book. I know one thing I'm not the only one who have problems with the corporation and the place where the trailor came from.

i am a roofer at plant 5 in rockwell n.c. i see these trailors every day they have never looked the way this lady is claiming,i would just like for her to know her problem is with the sales place she got it at,not the corporation itself, sounds to me as though she is just trying to blame them for giving credit to someone who could not pay there bills to begin with.
