Official Payments predatory business practice Norcross Georgia

This report is being submitted as a warning to others to avoid using officialpayments.com at all cost's.

Entering one wrong digit caused my property tax payment to be returned NSF. This in itself is a lie/falsity/untruth as I had more than adequate funds to cover the amount.

They are quick to email a confirmation listing the details, however, if you make a mistake they not only will NOT contact you to assist in correcting the mistake but they charge the county where the payment was supposed tio be made a NSF fee.

The county then passes along this fee/penalty/burden back to the payee along with an added "late fee" beacuse the tax bill is now considered overdue.

Now, Official Payments not only had my email but, they also have my unlisted phone number as listed correctly and accurately on the confirmation that they sent. My question therefore is this, If official payments was in the least concerned about customer service and customer satisfaction couldn't they either call me or at least email me regarding the error and offer to help me correct it? The answer is HECK NO!

Their business practice and or policy is to PREY upon the honest mistakes of well intentioned people that are just trying to pay their bills!

Calling and emailing their customer service was a waste of time. I tried both. They refused to refund/credit the fee and offered no help whatsoever in the form of re-submitting the payment (with assistance over the phone to avoid errors) or even offering a discount or waving the "convience fee". Nothing at all. Your just charged the fee and thats that.

In addition to that, the county, in their letter to me is now talking about "publishing my parcel information in the local newspaper. and, Fees will be added for said publication and the next penalty phase" !?

Of course, I'll pay it in person before that happens. But, this is what I'm dealing with now all thanks to officialpayments.com and their predatory business practices/policies.

Therefore, unless you are perfect and never make mistakes, I would avoid this company like the plague.

One small error is now costing me much more than their services are worth.
