Unfortunately my son struggles with the disease of addiction. We are from Connecticut. When it came time to address the problem, he had approached me to get him some help. We had brought him to the hospital to have him detoxed from the drugs and I had spoken to them about getting him in patient treatment. After some research online and a call to our insurance provider, we had found a facility in Broward county, Florida. He was flown down there and continued his treatment. Twords the end of his stay there his counselor had suggested that he stay down there and reside in a halfway house.

After some more searching, we had chosen One Last Chance. Luckily, my mother lives close by in Palm Beach so she was actually able to go tour the house which happens to be a beautiful, newly built three story town house with flat screen televisions, stainless appliances, marble countertops, the whole nine. And a great part was that the weekly rent was only $165 (Which I would be paying for the first month until he got a job and got om his feet). Sounds too good to be true? I didn't think so at the time, now I can say otherwise.

I payed the owners an original $495, which is the deposit to put down for my son to move into the house and would be paying $165 per week for his rent that first month. Moving along, after the third week/payment I had realized on my statement that each week my card was being charges twice, both times for 165. Making it a total of 990, instead of 495. There mud have been some kind of honest mistake, so I called the owner Joclyn to explain what had happened and to get it sorted out.

After having a very short, surprising conversation, she had explained to me that there was no mistake and said everything in her system was up to par and actually called me a liar. I was shocked and confused as to how a business owner, especially in a line of business such as this, could be so rude and short with me when a 500 dollar mistake was made on their end! I consulted visa after I realized I was not getting it back without a fight and inquired about a refund and began the hunt again to get him into another halfway house in the area before the next Sunday came around and my card was double charged again.

and during that week I recieved a distraught call from my son at 11:30 at night. I asked him what had happened and he explained to me that he was just discharged from the house and was told that he had thirty minutes to pack his belongings and leave the property. At 11:30 at night! The reason he was asked to leave was for "disrespecting OLC staff". He has asked the owner the reason as to why I was paying twice the rent each week. After a small confrontation, he was told he had thirty minutes to pack his things amd leave the property or the police would be called.

After that whole nightmare, I was speaking with him about the whole situation he had explained to me that one of the owners, Joclyn, a young female, had acted very inappropriatey and unprofessionally towards him. He sent me text message after text message she had sent him that we're very promiscuous, trying to seduce him. Talking about them leaving, moving in together, and starting a life of their own along with unclothed pictures of herself.

The whole experience with One Last Chance halfway house was a nightmare and really left a bad taste in my mouth for lack if a better term. I eventually received my money back from my card company after a month long battle with them. I would advise against doing any business with this company due to their unprofessionalism and dishonesty. We have found that there are many other halfway houses in the area are very nice, have great sober communities, and most importantly, have owners that practice honesty and integrity when it comes to their business. Thank you for reading.

Story is a Hoax

AUTHOR: Roy - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 21, 2017

First and foremost this very elaborate story was written by a client discharged for ADMITTING he was high on heroin, and willingly left. For reasons unknown to myself, he decided he had nothing better to do while intoxicated other than to take his time writing a very convincing but completely bogus story. It is a shame to see someone, who clearly has potential as a writer, waste their time bashing a place that did nothing but try to help him.
