OPENFAX SCAM which aims at getting credit card details and signature CARPENTERSVILLE, Illinois

Openfax closed this customer's account because they were unwilling to verify their ownership of the credit card.  To protect consumers from fraudulent charges Openfax would not activate the account due to fraudulent suspicions.

The customer became upset because we would not activate and account without proof that the card was actually theirs. After closing account application the customer requested proof that the application and card number were removed from our system.

Though Openfax did email the customer that the credit card information and account application had been deleted from our system the customer wanted some other type of proof. 

What type of proof we could provide for the deletion of an electronic application that would satisfy this customer was beyond us and the customer would not explain what type of evidence would be sufficient for a deleted electronic records.  A confirmation email was sent to the applicant, the account was closed and account information deleted.

Sounded like someone was having a bad day.

The address supplied on the new account form was questioned by Openfax as Google searches showed the supplied address as being either a UPS Store or FedEx Store. Openfax then emailed this person simply asking about it, and reported what the Google search revealed. Response to that email was combative, and demanded proof of deletion of a digital file.  

As any photo or video proof that might be supplied would still result in Openfax having the information in photo or video form (what a catch-22), no reasonable proof could be determined. When questioned as to what would constitute reasonable proof of deletion to his satisfaction, no suggestions were offered, only repetition of the demand for proof.

The application form in question has since been deleted from our records, as no reasonable proof of deletion could be determined.
