I booked a flight with Ryanair through Opodo. I would have booked direct with Ryanair, but they were not offering the time I wanted, although they did have the flight. So I booked through Opodo.

I got an Opodo booking number from Opodo, but their email told me to check in direct with Ryanair. On Opodo's booking confirmation, there was no booking number for Ryanair - it just said mysteriously "Ryanair NA". I tried to book in with Ryanair at least 20 times (they also have an option in which you don't need the booking number), but always got a message telling me that they did not recognise my booking.

Over a period of 3 days, I sent about 15 messages to Opodo - using their form, which is your only option - but each time I just got back an automated email, which showed that they don't actually read any email.

I went to the airport only to find that Ryanair had never heard of me.  I came back and wrote again to Opodo. On the Internet I found another address for them so I wrote to them, telling them what had happened and including their booking confirmation and the text of the emails I had sent them.  Again, I got an automated reply saying I should supply the booking number and others details.  I wrote back saying "I did!" and that was the end of the correspondence.

So there you have it.  I lost "only" 208 euros with Opodo, but also my time, the hotel I booked (another 100 euros) and of course I missed the event I had intended to go to and my friend's birthday celebration.

Oh, by the way: I also have the option to call their number abroad and this is charged at premium rates. So I could now spend even more money calling them and hanging on the line while they play me a recorded message and give me the runaround. No thanks.

So Opodo is just one big rip-off.  I see from other disappointed victims that this is common. Moral of the Story - avoid Opodo like the plague.  Opodo is just a huge rip-off scheme.
