I am thinking the sales actions of this company may be illegal. I need help to find out. I never signed up for the alleged "voice mail services". I have a message machine at my home that I use for messages. I have never used voicemail.

My phone bill states that "The Billing Resource" has charged me for $13.22 per month, before taxes, each month since November of 2005 for "Optimum Voic e Mail Mnth". My bill is on autopay via a credit card, so I do not check it regularly as I trust Qwest not to rip me off on the billing. I did not sign up for any voicemail products.

"The Billing Resource" directed me to Optimum Voicemail, Inc, . I called Optimum Voicemail, Inc and aksed that they cancel this phantom service immediately, which they said they have done. They gave me a cancellation number. I asked Optimum Voicemail, Inc to remove all charges from now (2/15/06) back through November, and credit my account with the amount of such charges, but they refused.

They said my girlfriend had filled out some kind of groceries sweepstakes on the internet, and thereby given her Date of Birth, her name, our residence address, and our home telephone number. They claimed that this was sufficient for them to bill us for this "service". I did a quick internet search and found many other folks have suffered the same treatment by this company.

I would like to publicly ask them to stop doing this to people, refund payments already made by me, and others, and stop doing business in WA State. Stop defrauding people. Stop attaching to innocent consumers' telephone bills.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Internet Groceries

AUTHOR: Pamela - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 20, 2006

Yes, I am an ex-employee of Optimum Voicemail. and yes, it is a pop-up that comes up on different sites and ask for all sorts of info to get free internet grocerie coupons, etc. Now it states in the pop-up that you will receive emails that YOU MUST respond to if you want to CANCEL. But if you don't respond to them you will be charged the monthly fee. I am no longer with the company.
