I've had a Master Card w/ Orchard Bank for several years. Credit Limit is around $2,000.00

Remodeled my house several months ago and maximized all credit (temporarily).

Today I received a letter stating my interest rate was to increase from 15% to 29% in one fell swoop! I called the number in the letter and got the usual run around. was told I have a "beautiful payment history" never late, never over limit. etc. Unfortunately, due to something on my credit report they were being forced to increase my interest.

I've wasted hours researching this slimy company
on the Internet. Filed a complaint via fax with the OCC.

I feel victimized (raped) by their unscrupulous
predatory business practices. I intend to FIGHT them, because I'm not poor. I will pay off the card. but will focus my energy on not letting this happen to anyone else.

If there are others out there willing to stand up to them, please respond.

Let's create a website requesting those who have been scammed by Orchard Bank...

To post on the page & sign a petition for a class action lawsuit.

I'll start the website but will need help.

I say we expose all the flaws of Orchard Bank from gathering all examples and posting them.

Once we have enough folks signed up we can present our findings to a class action suit lawyer.

we should stop complaining and take action.

Okay, we're all angry and venting. Let's find the thousands and thousands of other people that are angry and make a difference. I have written my congressman as well as senators (got a form letter response blaming the democratic congress for not getting any legislature passed!) We need to keep exposing and complaining about the bad companies.

Does anyone out there know how to get legal action started against some of these giants? They are "banking" (yuck, yuck) on our weakness in standing up to them.

Orchard bank doesn't want bad press...so how do we get the word out there?
Anyone willing to try to get Oprah to do a show? What about the morning
shows...TODAY, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, etc.?

Poor people aways get the shaft...paying more for everything....LET'S
TURN IT AROUND.

Your report asked for others who have been victimized to respond - I am willing to join in and take part in any actions that will put these slimeballs out of business. Maybe a class action suit is the answer? How do we proceed??

HSBC--a name no one can trust!!

They did the exact same thing to me! I had a mastercard with them with a mere $300 maximum, thank god it was so small. I accidentally went over the limit and they charged me $39. I knew that it was over by about $3 so I planned to pay it, and it was due about 15 days from then. All of a sudden here comes another bill for and additional $39. I called and got some guy from India that I could barely understand and he said I was being charged another over the limit charge because I was over the limit because of the last over the limit fee, ( I had paid the previous bill ). I was so mad I said " what the H--- are you doing? You mean to tell me you are charging me a fee before the bill was even due? He said " yes, mam and you better pay it right away or you will be charged again".

I was LIVID, you can imagine what I sounded like and I said "fine, okay" he responded that I could pay over the phone to avoid any more fees ( bear in mind the bill was not even due yet ). I said ok but then he said " there's just a small fee of $12.99. I flipped out then and told him " you know what? Just close my account right now and I'll pay from my bank and there better not be an addition fee or they would see me in court. he responded "but don't you want to keep the account open in case of an emergency?" I said " you are the F------ emergency!!

A week later an American sounding man called and was so appologetic that I kept the account open. Two months later they raised my rate from 13.99 to 27.99 !! I hate that company and have paid my balance in full and closed my account. I can remember my mom complaining about that "s----y House Hold Bank. Don't deal with them they are legal con artists!!
