In 2017 I attended Oren Klaffs "Pitch Anything" seminar at his San Diego office. The 2-3 day, $5000 event was marketed as a chance to work with Oren persoanlly and have him help you craft a "pitch deck" for your compmay that would help engage prospects and help to close deals.

I was first interviewed over the phone by Oren's assistant "Peter" to find out if my business and clients were a good fit for this. I was completely transparent on the challenges my business faces in a very overcrowded industry.  They felt it was a good fit and that they could help.

A week later I had another phone call with Oren himself. I once again did not candy-coat how difficult my clientelle was to get through to. Oren not only felt he could help me craft a good "pitch" or narrative when talking to prospects, but also that he would show me how to use this new crafted pitch in my marketing to attract new customers as well.

I flew out to San Diego a few weeks later for the event. There were about 25 others there. A smaller intimate event, so I was excited. There was a professional camera crew there recording audio and video. Most likely for an online version of the class in the future. It became obvious that the video was the priority for him, not the people in attendace who had paid thoudands to get help from him.

The first day after an intro he gave us some paperwork with some instructions to begin the process. Oren came over to me and said he realized that I had the biggest challenges of anyone there, but he would personallyt get me to a breakthrough.

Over the course of the couple days I was there,  Oren may have spent a maximum of 20 minutes with me.  On the second day he had a few of his colleages come in and "help" everyone out. Each time I sat down with one of them, I had to re-explain my business, my product, my challenges and who my target cleint was. By the time I finished, they gave me very little feedback and then had to move on to help others.  This happened 3 or 3 times with his staff.  One of the times he sat me down to get help from his young assistant Peter, who had previously been running errands and clearly worked for Oren in an office assistant capacity.   This was ridiculous.

On the second day, as many struggled through the process,  Oren announced to us that normally it would take him and his crew 30 days to perfect this process for his clients.  What? That was not mentioned anywere on his website or in the calls we had before I paid. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite.  It was promised that we would to a "breakthrough" ( this is even written on the website for this event) and get the process complete.  Why else would someone drop 5 grand and fly out?

At the end, I was nowhere closer to a breakthrough and had no more knowleldge of what to do than before I attendeed the event. Complete waste of money.

First off, I paid the money to learn from Oren after reading his book, not his staff who I dont know anbd who arent the authors of his book.

Second, I didnt get any proper time or instruction from Oren on my partuclar business challenges to help me in any way.

At the end he patted me on the back and said "Your a smart guy, I think you should do more videos and become an authority in your market."

Apparently - to Oren, that advice is worth five thousand dollars.  Not to me.

The last day, before I left, I mentioned that I was still very lost and did not get the help I needed. I asked if he would follow up with me via email and make sure I was getting my pitch down correctly. He said yes. I have yet to receive that help.  He asked me to upload what I had completed to a Google Doc and he would check it out. I did and emailed him and his assistant Peter. To this day, nearly a year later no response.

Oren's book is good. But he doesnt deliver on anything else he promises. And he doesnt seem to care.

UPDATE:

AUTHOR: Jonathan - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 03, 2019

Oren and his team have since reached out to me to discuss my experience in more detail and have offered the me the proper help to completely fulfill my wishes & expectation as a client.

At this time, I would retract my previous sentiment that was done while a bit frustrated, as they have properly rectified the situation.
